Wilkinson, who has a young daughter, was convicted of causing unnecessary suffering to a bulldog named Minnie. The charge was proved in Wilkinson’s absence at a previous hearing.

Minnie was discovered by a housing association officer who had accessed Wilkinson’s former address in Marigold Road, Stratford, in May 2019.

They found the white and tan dog’s body and contacted the RSPCA.

During the court hearing, RSPCA Inspector Thea Kerrison said: “Minnie was curled up in a plastic dog bed on top of a blanket. I could see that she was extremely thin as I could see her ribs and hip bones prominently. She looked like she had died, curled up in the sleeping position.”

Ms Kerrison added: “Minnie was severely neglected prior to her death.

The veterinary reports after her post-mortem examination concluded that her poor body condition score would have taken place over a period of weeks. The conditions she was found in with large amounts of faeces in her environment is further evidence of this.

“There were two levels of suffering identified by vets – the physical suffering of starvation and dehydration, and the mental suffering of anxiety and stress, not knowing if anyone was coming for her or when she would be fed.

“Minnie was dependent on her owner and she broke that trust by leaving her to suffer. Wilkinson could have asked for help or handed Minnie over to an animal charity to be rehomed but instead decided to simply abandon her to die after a period of prolonged suffering.”

Sentencing: 12-week prison sentence, suspended for 12 months; 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days; a total of £278 in costs and charges. Lifetime disqualification order on all animals, but can appeal after 10 years.

  1. Karma she will never have a minutes peace. Her friends and neighbours I hope will ignore her wicked woman.

    1. I know her and I’m disgusted she would do this Why did she not just give her to dogs kennel .

Absolutely disgusting and deserves a sentence you wouldn’t do it to a child and that’s what a dog is a child .I want nothing to do with her ever again

  2. I honestly have no words. This is so so awful. I can’t even begin to understand this, this woman needs to suffer for what she’s done, ugly disgusting woman.

  3. What a disgusting piece of scum this woman is! I’d like to see her starved to death.

  4. Evil Mentally Disturbed Scum.
She could have Phoned The RSPCA, or even sent them a Letter and Send It Recorded Delivery, explaining what she had been forced to do if she was that Desperate and could not take the Dog with her, and left it a couple of Bowls Of Water. That way at least they would have known the following day where it was, and it wouldn’t have suffered.
Social Services need to be Informed, as she is Not Capable of looking after a little Dog and Leaving It To Starve To Death.
They need to keep a close eye on that Baby.

  5. Absolutely Heart Breaking.
How the hell can you leave something to Starve To Death.

  6. All I can say is fly high Minnie your free from that scum that left you that way. Weeks of suffering not days someone must have heard this dogs cry’s for help. Her own family must have known this was happening and if they didn’t she covered it up well. Then that leaves concerns regarding the welfare of her child. Maybe if she had less slap on she would have more money for dog food ….
At some point this dog was healthy as the other-picture shows her on her walks. How was she missed ???
There are too many rescues on social media for this to be happening in this country all it would of took is a call and you couldn’t even do that…
Shame on you and I hope you live with the awful memories for the rest of your life. Some people don’t have a choice and lose there furbabies through illness just like we did. You had a choice !!

  7. I would like to see animal abusers be hounded out of their homes and never given any moments of peace. The sentencing for animal cruelty is still disgracefully lenient and I have as much contempt for the ‘lets be nice to criminals’ brigade as I have for the actual criminals themselves. Easy to talk about ‘forgiveness’ when it is someone else who is getting hurt. This evil woman should have been given a real prison sentence not a worthless ‘suspended’ non-sentence. I’m still waiting to see some results from the supposed change in the sentencing law for animal cruelty. Our feeble sentencing council is STILL talking about ‘consulting’. What is there to consult about? https://www.sentencingcouncil.org.uk/offences/crown-court/item/animal-cruelty-interim-guidance/

  8. I have only just heard about this atrocity!
To say I’m distraught is a joke of an understatement!
Where is the punishment for this monstrous piece of pond life??
Five years imprisonment would be totally insufficient!
When will the punishment regarding cruelty to animals ever fit the crime!
I can only hope that her actions will NEVER be forgotten and that she has the most tormented life imaginable!!!!!
