Cybercrime officers found a horror collection of videos on Scott Fleming’s phone showing a horse, a pig and a dog being raped by adult men and women

Fleming was found to have downloaded the films to his mobile phone when police officers raided his home in Prestonpans on May 10, 2021.

Prosecutor Debbie King told the court that police arrived at the home Fleming shared with older brother Gordon Fleming with a search warrant.

Ms King said that officers from the National Child Abuse Unit searched the property and seized electrical equipment including a phone, a laptop and an external hard drive.

Four MP4 videos were discovered on the mobile device showing “sexual acts between an adult female and a horse, a pig and an adult male and a dog”.

Ms King added that one film also featured “an adult female and an adult male inserting a live moving drill into another man’s penis”.

Fleming pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic material depicting bestiality but walked free from court with a community order. He also escaped being placed on the sex offenders register.

His brother Gordon Fleming, born c. 1994, also appeared in the dock accused of possessing child sex abuse images but he had his plea of not guilty accepted by the Crown.

Bournemouth, Dorset: Liam Brown

CONVICTED (2023) | Liam Brown, born c. 1998, of Grosvenor Gardens, Boscombe, Bournemouth BH1 4HH – broke into a farm, tied up a calf with a belt and raped her.

Animal rapist Liam Brown from Boscombe, Bournemouth, Dorset

“Sadistic” pervert Liam Brown was found by farmers with his trousers down and ‘clearly having sex with a calf’ at the farm in Burton, near Christchurch, Dorset.

He tried to get away and jumped a fence into another pen but was trampled by cows.

He cried as he lay on the floor and told farmers, “I’m sorry, I f*” up.”

Brown was subsequently charged with sexual penetration with a living animal and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.

Prosecuting, Matthew Mortimer said that the owners of the farm, which is off Martins Hill Lane, had set up a surveillance system following suspicions cattle were being “interfered with”.

It followed declining health among the livestock, and even deaths, as well as incidents where items of clothing and surgical gloves had been found on the farm.

Shortly before midnight on June 12, 2022, a calf was heard making a ‘distress sound’ prompting the farmers to check the CCTV.

Viewing live footage from the farmhouse they saw a figure chasing a calf around with what appeared to be a belt.

The court heard how the defendant ran away after realising he had been caught, and in doing so, fell into another animal cage and was trampled by cows.

He was confronted by the farm owners, and when one asked if the abused animal was tied up, he responded that ‘he had finished and untied the calf’.

A DNA sample taken from a calf the following day proved ‘intercourse’ had taken place.

The defendant was known to the farmers as some of his family previously worked at the farm.

While they suspected that animals were being abused, the farm owners said ‘the truth was something they could not comprehend’.

Mitigating, Olivia McGonigle noted her client was remorseful and was “devastated by the pain he has caused”.

She told the court: “Mr Brown has been open and honest with the probation service about the offence.

“He has been open about the difficulties he has with his behaviour.”

Mrs McGonigle said that the defendant was “working to address his behaviour” and was being supported by his girlfriend.

She added that Brown had moved away from the area and had no intention to work with any livestock.

Summarising, Judge Keith Cutler CBE said: “This is a very alarming, bizarre and worrying case.

“A man of your age getting involved in this behaviour – I’m sure you look back on it with shame and embarrassment.

“Your actions did cause unnecessary suffering to this animal.

“I hope that nothing like this will ever happen again.”

Speaking to the Daily Mail after the sentencing hearing, one of the farm owners said she was concerned that Brown would strike again and still checks the cattle pen every morning.

She said: ‘You never think that somebody could be so depraved.

‘It was my job to feed the calves. They would be fine when I left them at night and then I would find them ill in the morning and struggling to breathe.

‘I thought they had pneumonia so I was trying to treat them for that but it was actually because he was strangling them with his belt.

‘He took his belt off to tie the calf to the gate.

‘He should have gone to prison.’

Sentencing | 36-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work; £600 compensation. Banned from owning or keeping livestock for ten years.

Petersfield, East Hampshire: Kurtis Nichols

CONVICTED (2023) | Kurtis Nichols, born 5 July 1996, of Old Stables East Meon Road, Langrish, Petersfield GU32 1RN – caught with disturbing images of animal rape and child sexual abuse.

Sexual deviant Kurtis Nichols escaped a prison sentence despite being caught with images showing vile animal and child sexual abuse

Nichols was hauled before Portsmouth Crown Court after police found vile images on his devices at his previous address in Havant in February 2020.

The images included those of the worst kind and featured babies of six to 12 months being abused, as well as sexual activity with animals.

Nichols admitted three charges of making indecent images of children, possessing an extreme pornographic image, and possessing a prohibited image of a child. The offending period stretched into 2021.

The court heard that Nichols, of previous good character, suffered with “neuro diversity” issues with ADHD and mild autism and found it “difficult to connect with people”.

It was the defendant’s “desire to fit in” that had led him down the path of child abuse imagery with people in the online gaming community.

Nichols had not reoffended in the three-plus years since his foray into child abuse imagery – which judge Richard Shepherd said was an indication this was a temporary blip.

“In the years up to 2020 you were part of an online gaming community where the sexual abuse of children was discussed and you were given many still and moving images (of child abuse),” he said.

“The thing to remember is that every image you receive is a real child who has been sexually abused. Even worse, these children often know they have been pictured and filmed and even as adults they know these are still out there.

The judge said “very young children and animals were involved” with them in “distress”.

But judge Shepherd said Nichols had shown “genuine remorse” and referring to the defendant’s neuro diversity, added: “You joined the group to feel part of something.”

The judge opted to spare the defendant jail due to him having “good prospects of rehabilitation” and having not offended for over three years.

Sentencing | two-year jail term suspended for two years; told to complete a thinking skills program; 200 hours of unpaid work and 30 rehabilitation days; £425 in costs; subject to sex offender notification requirements and a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years.

Victim Tulula endured a vicious assault at the hands of twisted construction worker Harry Taberner during which she suffered a catalogue of severe injuries to her head and body. Patches of her fur had been ripped out and there was swelling to her anus indicating a possible sexual motivation. Veterinary examination found evidence of previous injuries that had healed, with the implication that the attack had not been a one-off.

Roker, Sunderland: David Lee

CONVICTED (2023) | David Lee, born c. 1983, of Roker Avenue, Roker, Sunderland SR6 0HP – carried out a bizarre sexual act on a baby herring gull.

Sexual deviant David Lee was seen near Gladstone Street, Sunderland, at around 1am on August 18 2022, chasing a gull down the road, with a second piece of footage showing him chasing the same bird down the road again.

Finally, in a third piece of footage, Lee emerges holding a smaller bird.

He could then be seen putting the bird between his legs, before masturbating while watching pornography on his phone.

When he had finished, Lee put the gull down, kicked it away and walked off in the opposite direction.

Lee was arrested at a nearby takeaway and told police he picked up the gull because he thought it was hurt and was looking on his phone to find out what he should do. But instead of searching for a vet’s phone number, as he claimed to have done, police checks revealed Lee had actually been looking at animal porn, the court was told.

Lee, who is originally from Washington, Tyne and Wear, but lives in the city, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to the bird.

Annalisa Moscardini, mitigating, said Lee was a heavy drinker who experienced blackouts.

“He accepts he must have done this act but he didn’t have a good recollection of it,” she said in explanation of his initial denials.

“To some extent he cannot explain what happened.”

A psychiatric report found he suffered from an unstable personality disorder and was detached from reality. He was also a pathological liar whose lies served no purpose.

Lee, who is on benefits, has a criminal record and was given a prison sentence in 2020 for possession of a blade.

Sentencing Lee, Chair of the Bench Angela Thompson said suffering was caused to the young bird and that Lee had consumed alcohol and accessed porn involving animals at the time of the offence – which were aggravating features.

Sentencing | jailed for 24 weeks; £300 costs and £150 surcharge. Banned from keeping animals for 10 years.

Dover, Kent: Phillip Henry

CONVICTED (2023) | horse rapist and paedophile Phillip Henry, born c. 1987, of Auckland Crescent, Dover CT16 2JR

Kent horse rapist Phillip Henry

Phillip Henry, a known pervert with previous convictions for possession of child porn and sexual assault of two underage girls, pleaded guilty to bestiality in relation to a cob pony named Betty.

The construction worker was heard “giggling” while he forced himself upon the animal, with his trousers around his ankles, in a field at a private stable in Dover on April 16, 2021.

He was caught red-handed by a stable-hand and fled the scene, but was arrested when his DNA was found in a sample taken from the horse.

Henry initially denied bestiality, claiming that the horse had been contaminated with sperm inadvertently after he ejaculated in the field.

But he later pleaded guilty to intentionally having sex with a living animal, namely a horse, which carries a maximum sentence of two years.

Opening the case, prosecutor Don Ramble explained: “On April 16, 2021, at about 4.30pm in the afternoon, [the stable-hand] was working at Longhill Livery in Dover.

“She noticed that one of the horses was missing, and when she looked around the field, it was then that she saw the defendant, [who was] not known to her.

“He was standing behind the horse that was missing from the others, and so [the stable-hand] went over to investigate, and not long after she saw clearly what was happening.

“The defendant was wearing yellow high-visibility trousers, and these were down by his ankles. He was thrusting back and forth from behind the horse. She did not run away – she instead screamed at the defendant.

“She described in her statement the defendant’s reaction to being caught having sex with a horse.

“He casually pulled up his trousers, still exposing himself, and then [she] bravely gave chase and ran towards the defendant.

“He then began running away. She pursued him by a nearby field but he was too fast and he managed to escape.

“She then notified the owner of the horse … who had the wherewithal to immediately call his vet to attend – specifically so swabs could be taken.”

Kent horse rapist Phillip Henry

Forensic results recovered from the horse’s vagina contained the defendant’s DNA, Mr Ramble explained.

Police attended Henry’s address where they also recovered 13.3 grams of cannabis.

He was arrested for possession of cannabis and intercourse with a horse.

The court heard no harm came to Betty, while the method Henry used to restrain the cob – a breed which can weigh as much as 50 stone – remains unknown.

Mitigating, John O’Connor, said Henry receives “full support” from his mother and step-father, who attended his sentencing hearing.

“They find it very difficult to understand what happened two years ago,” he said.

Henry believes he violated the horse after becoming stressed at work, while suffering bereavement following the loss of two family members.

Mr O’Connor argued Henry has a “real prospect of rehabilitation,” while he’s fit for unpaid work at weekends.

And he said the defendant would benefit from a programme designed to help rehabilitate sex offenders, while his partner also wishes for him to attend.

Mr O’Connor stressed if Henry was jailed immediately his partner would struggle with mortgage payments, potentially risking her home.

Urging the judge to suspend a spell in custody, he said the nature of Henry’s job means “there is no reason for him to be near liveries, stables or horses at all.”

Judge Douglas Marks Moore was unconvinced, however, and sent Henry to jail while branding his actions “beyond contemplation – reprehensible, appalling, disgusting”.

He added: “In my judgement there is sometimes an offence of such a nature that courts must mark society’s disapproval and abhorrence.
And in my view this is such a case.”

After Judge Moore passed sentence, Henry could be heard saying: “Oh, that’s not good – I love you mum.”

Sentencing | jailed for eight months. Prohibited from being at any stable or place where equine animals are housed permanently, or to have any contact with horses unsupervised.

The pair were caught out when police examined Edwards’ mobile and computer devices and found vile videos showing the abuse of the dog.

A court heard that after he was arrested Edwards expressed concern about what would happen to Max, who has since been rehomed.

An investigation was carried out and photos and videos were found on his devices, including child pornography and extreme pornography involving animals. Officers then discovered some of the images were of sexual activity with his own dog.

Edwards pleaded guilty to two offences of sexual intercourse with an animal, one count of encouraging or assisting with the commission of an offence as well as three counts of making indecent image of a child and three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images.

Bournemouth Crown Court heard reports showed Edwards had autistic traits and a high level of intelligence but showed ‘bizarre attitudes and behaviours’.

John Dyer, representing Edwards, said he had become very isolated, was signed off work and suffered with anxiety and depression.

Despite being an obvious danger to animals and children Edwards walked free from court with a community sentence

Judge Climie told Edwards: “Concerns were expressed to the police that were proved well-founded. There were extreme pornographic images in relation to animals, some of those proved to be sexual activity involving you and your own dog and also Mr Barton, who had also become involved in that sexual activity.

“You will be subject to a community order for the next three years. That may seem like you have avoided the ultimate punishment of going to prison, but I must consider the extent to which rehabilitation can be achieved in a custodial setting.

“Because of your peculiarities, I don’t mean that in an offensive manner, you would be highly vulnerable as a prisoner. You would be subjected not just to taunting but also some degree of violence from other inmates and that would achieve very little in rehabilitating you.”

Sentencing | three-year community order with up to 60 rehabilitation activity days and a three-month curfew between 8pm and 6am. Five-year criminal behaviour order that Edwards shall not own, possess or look after any dog unless whilst in the company of that dog’s owner. Sexual harm prevention order. Ordered to sign sex offenders’ register for five years.

Stockport, Greater Manchester: Douglas Moore

CONVICTED (2022) | paedophile Douglas Moore, born 19 February 1988, from Stockport – sexually abused his dog and shared extreme content online.

Moore was jailed for five years after being convicted of multiple sex offences, including having intercourse with an animal.

Met officers were investigating a separate matter when they discovered a video of a dog being subjected to physical and sexual abuse. Enquiries identified the person in the video as Moore.

The content of the video was so distressing that senior officers in the Met were contacted and a warrant was sought to rescue the animal and arrest Moore.

On 8 November 2021, police attended Moore’s home address in Stockport and arrested him on suspicion of bestiality, possession of extreme pornography and causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

The dog was found and was removed from the address. A quantity of cannabis was also found.

Moore was taken into custody and a number of devices, including his mobile phone and computer, were seized for specialist examination.

Evidence found on the devices proved Moore had been abusing the dog over an extended period of time and had been using the dark web to view further extreme content of animals and humans.

Officers discovered he had sought out opportunities to swap and share material with others and had discussed meeting others to abuse dogs and children. No evidence was found that these attempted meetings had come to fruition.

Officers found Moore had gone to great lengths to clear chat logs and website histories in an attempt to hide his offending.

Moore was convicted of a total of 24 counts including the following offences:

  • Intercourse with an animal
  • Causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal
  • Possession of an extreme pornographic image / images portraying an act of intercourse / oral sex with a dead / alive animal
  • Intentionally encouraging or assisting the commission of an offence of intercourse with an animal
  • Making indecent photograph / pseudo-photograph of a child
  • Attempting to arrange the commission of a child sex offence
  • Publishing an obscene online article
  • Possession of a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis / Cannabis resin

He will be on the sex offenders register for life upon his release. He is also banned from owning animals.

PC Pete Howes, from the Online Child Sexual Abuse & Exploitation Command, said: “Upon discovery of the original video we took immediate and decisive action to identify Moore and save the dog.

“I am happy to say the dog is now safe and well and being cared for.

“The scale of evidence compiled meant Moore was left with no option but to plead guilty. I’m pleased he is now in jail where he belongs.

“It is no exaggeration to say that this investigation may well have spared more animals, and humans, from coming to incredibly serious harm.”

Sentencing | jailed for five years. Indefinite ban on owning animals. Lifelong entry on the sex offenders register.

Chellaston, Derby: Robert Hurley

CONVICTED (2022) | pervert Robert Hurley, born c. 1970, of Griffon Close, Chellaston, Derby DE73 5PB – filmed his dog performing sex acts on a woman and uploaded the footage to a bestiality website.

A court has heard that after police seized the footage and charged Hurley, he told a probation officers that it was “two consenting adults” engaging in the behaviour. Now, having been convicted, he has lost his job.

In court, district Judge Jonathan Taaffe said: “To describe this matter, as you did to (the probation officer) as ‘two consenting adult behind closed doors, what does it matter?’ displays an error of judgement at best and at worst degenerate and depraved behaviour. Any right-thinking person would see the type of behaviour you videoed and uploaded, even with the consent of the other person, as some form of abuse.

“Little or no thought was given to the welfare of the animal involved and I am satisfied your attraction to depraved areas of bestiality has to be confronted full-on. It was you who videoed it and it was you who encouraged the dog to perform sex acts and then proceeded to upload the images on the website.”

Ben Payne, prosecuting, said police went to Hurley’s address on January 31, 2021, to investigate a domestic incident from which no charges have been brought. He said the defendant’s phone and other electronic devices were seized during the visit and on the phone there were 25 videos and three images. It was identified that it was the defendant on the footage and a woman and the dog was performing a sex act.

The prosecutor said: “It was a poodle and the dog was being incited to engage in various sexual acts with the female by the defendant. There was also evidence of him uploading videos to a bestiality website, which is an aggravating feature.”

Hurley pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images.

Sentencing | 40 rehabilitation sessions with the probation service; 100 hours of unpaid work; £180 in costs and victim surcharge. Five-year sexual harm prevention order.
