The offence related to failing to take steps to investigate and address the cause of poor bodily condition and weight loss of a horse named Olivia.

A vet discovered that Olivia was dehydrated, and that she was in a poor body condition.

Olivia was in emaciated condition when rescued by the RSPCA.

It comes after she was found on land with insufficient grazing due to poor grass cover and no supplementary feed.

Olivia also had inadequate water, with the only water present in the field green and contaminated with debris.

We understand that Olivia could not be saved, such was the extent of Gearing’s neglect.

RSPCA Inspector Maia Corbett, who investigated for the animal welfare charity, said: “Caring for horses is a huge responsibility.

“Those caring for animals also have a legal responsibility to seek veterinary treatment for animals when they require it. It is never acceptable to leave an animal to suffer.”

Sentencing: 200 hours of unpaid work; 80 rehabilitation activity days; a total of £490 fines, costs and charges. Disqualified from keeping horses for five years (expires March 2026).

  1. When peoples circumstances change, especially today with this Covid. We don’t know what’s round the corner, a lot of us are being put off work and cannot go to work, especially now it has been over a year, a lot of people are finding life hard at the moment. If we have no provisions in place to fall back on, to keep our Animals as they should be kept, and cannot afford Vets Bills ect. especially when they get Older. As well as Hay, Feed, Farrier, Equine Dentist. You have to know when to call it a day and try to Rehome, such as Rescues.
As failure to do so: This Is The Result.

      1. 16 feet loa boat I think you’ll find. It’ll cost her less to do that boat up than you will make by ‘working’ on the streets for a couple of hours.

    1. the ironic this is.. i callled the rspca for help.. they said to me… sorry no room for any more horses.. i exhausted all avenues then just hoped.. it was spring coming.. new grass … it was gonna be ok

  2. How hard is it to provide water, absolutely disgusting. Life time ban from keeping any animals should be imposed. Not enough punishment or justice for this poor creature.

  3. She is an alcoholic and drug user. Her dogs neglected, her kids were neglected. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened. I have known her for 25 years. I tried to help her but just got lied to and basically had the p@#s taken out of me. Please don’t feel sorry for her. CV19 had nothing to do with what happened to this animal.

    1. And Louise you’re not “alcoholic and drug user”? What’s happened Louise? Did she try to take whoever your boyfriend is this week off you?

  4. How is signing onto the ‘Resister’ going for you these days. Are those ‘feelings’ for children vanishing with the medicene?

  5. hello all.. jodie here.. i you want the true facts of what happened… i will happily share it all with you. I loved my olivia and i fought as hard as i could for her.. those that judge me before knowing the truth need not ask.

    1. If you love an animal, you’d be human enough to provide fresh water, food and sufficient shelter without having to wait for grass and to the poor horse to perish. Time is not a forgiver and I really hope this sadness stays with you for as long as live. Often see you walking around smiling and justifying your bad doing on social media and it’s beyond me how you think it’s OK! Think of the slow painful cruel death you inflicted. What a sad lonely life for your beautiful Olivia . Drink and drugs can’t even be blamed, you must have a dark cold soul to let it go that far. There’s more help around than the RSPCA. I would have walked for miles with water for someone I loved. Everyday, as long as it took. Horses are intelligent, sensitive and a huge responsibility. She did not deserve to be left in your dirty hands. You make me feel sick to be honest.
