Oakwood / Chaddesden, Derby: Raph Stone and Dom Parker

CONVICTED (2024) | Raphael Stone, born 16 September1996, of Hartcliffe Close, Oakwood, Derby DE21 2AN, and Dominic Parker, born c. 2000, of Michigan Close, Chaddesden, Derby DE21 6WD – used dogs to hunt deer and hares.

Stone and Parker were arrested after being seen illegally hunting in fields around Park Farm and Morley Church, north of Oakwood, with two dogs off leads on April 9, 2024.

Derbyshire police officers attended and Parker was found sat inside a car parked nearby while Stone attempted to run away but was stopped shortly after.

Dom Parker was found to have two lock knives in his possession.

Both were arrested and subsequently charged with hunting a wild mammal with dogs and trespass with intent to search for or to pursue hares with dogs.

Parker was also charged with possession of a knife after two lock knives were found in the car, which was registered to Parker.

Both admitted the charges when they appeared at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court.

Sentencing |
Stone: community order with 40 hours of unpaid work; £500 costs and £114 victim surcharge.
Parker: 17-week suspended prison sentence; 80 hours of unpaid work; costs of £585 and a victim surcharge of £154. An order was also made for the forfeiture and destruction of the knives.
