CONVICTED (2024) | drug-addicted career criminal Gareth Llewellyn, born 20 March 1982, of no fixed abode but with strong links to the Great Lever area of Bolton – stabbed a dog walker and his dog during an argument.

Prosecution of career criminal and drug addict Gareth Llewellyn from Bolton, Greater Manchester, who stabbed a dog in the neck during an argument with her owner.

Llewellyn, who has 26 previous convictions including for robbery and drug supply, came across the man who was out walking his dog on Boxing Day 2023.

Heated words were exchanged when the man asked Llewellyn to repay the £10 he had lent him, leading the defendant to get a kitchen knife from a nearby house.

After coming back out of the house armed with the large knife, Llewellyn stabbed the dog to the neck and her owner to the chest.

Llewellyn was already serving an 18-month community order at the time. He was also three months into a 12-week prison sentence that had been suspended for 12 months.

He was arrested soon after and eventually pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding, possession of a knife in a public place and to causing unnecessary suffering to animals.

It has not been reported if the dog survived the attack.

Sentencing | jailed for a total of 28 months. 10-year restraining order.
