Barrow in Furness, Cumbria: Tony Collingwood and Chantelle Fitzpatrick

CONVICTED | Anthony Collingwood, born c. 1999, and Chantelle Lily Fitzpatrick, born 6 December 1995, of Egerton Court, Barrow in Furness LA14 2TT – for a catalogue of cruelty to three dogs.

RSPCA prosecution of Tony Collingwood and Chantelle Fitzpatrick, previously of Burnley, Lancashire, now Barrow in Cumbria - for cruelty to 3 dogs.

Collingwood and Fitzpatrick, then of Coal Clough Lane in Burnley BB11, admitted cruelty charges in relation to their dogs Patch, Luna and Star.

The pair failed to investigate and address the causes of the poor bodily condition and weight loss of Staffy Patch and didn’t provide veterinary care and attention for his ear infection and wounds.

The couple also failed to meet the needs of lurcher type dog Luna and terrier type dog Star by failing to provide them with a suitable environment due to a lack of appropriate control of fleas, the need for an appropriate diet, fresh water and for adequate care and supervision.

No further details have as yet been published and it’s not known if the dogs survived.

The defendants’ guilty pleas were taken into account when it came to sentencing.

Sentencing | fined £40 each plus £114 victim surcharge. Banned from owning any animal for 10 years but can appeal after five years (expires September 2034).
