Case Summary

Mum‑of‑five Billie Taylor, 29, allowed her one‑year‑old Shar Pei American Bulldog, Rocco, to suffer for weeks after he ingested a corn on the cob that became lodged in his intestine.

Rocco became severely emaciated, dehydrated, and lethargic, and was starved of nutrition for several weeks to months.

Taylor delayed seeking veterinary help until the dog was in an “extremely poor condition”, and Rocco was euthanised to end his suffering.

A second dog, Bear, was also found underweight and in poor condition.

Taylor pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering and failing to meet her animals’ needs, and was banned from keeping animals for five years.

Offender Overview

  • Name: Billie Taylor
  • Born: circa 1997
  • Age at Conviction: 29
  • Last Known Address: Gordons Mills Crescent, Tillydrone, Aberdeen AB24
  • Occupation: Unknown
  • Previous Convictions: None reported
  • Additional Information: Claimed her life was “in chaos” caring for five children, five dogs, and a litter of puppies; appeared unconcerned when told the SSPCA had been contacted.

Incident Details

On 2 October 2025, the SSPCA received a call from Swan Veterinary Practice in Aberdeen reporting that Taylor had brought in her dog, Rocco, in an “extremely poor condition”. Taylor told the vet Rocco had been vomiting bile for around five days.

An inspector observed Rocco’s spine, hips, and ribs protruding, and noted he was:

  • severely emaciated (body score 1/9)
  • dehydrated
  • lethargic
  • severely underweight at 11.2kg — less than half of the expected healthy weight for his breed
  • repeatedly vomiting during examination

Taylor claimed Rocco had only lost weight over the past five days and was still eating normally. The vet strongly disagreed, stating Rocco had been severely underweight before becoming unwell.

A woman with long straight blonde hair poses closely with another person behind her. She wears a black jacket and patterned top, and the background is bright and plain.

The vet suspected a foreign body or peritonitis. Rocco’s condition was so severe that he was euthanised to end his suffering.

A post‑mortem found a corn on the cob lodged in his intestine, causing a chronic and significant obstruction, stomach distention, and regurgitation. The vet concluded Rocco had suffered a chronic lack of nutrition over several weeks to months, inconsistent with Taylor’s account.

A second dog, Bear, also a Shar Pei American Bulldog, was found underweight with a body score of 3/10 and was seized by the SSPCA.

Taylor pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering and failing to provide for her animals’ needs.

Case Summary

French Bulldog puppy Roberto died at the Aberdeen PDSA Pet Hospital after being brought in severely emaciated, cold, pale, lethargic, and covered in scabs from an untreated skin condition.

His owner, Paul Prentice, waited until the last possible moment to seek veterinary help, despite the dog’s suffering being obvious to any reasonable person. Roberto died shortly after arrival.

Prentice pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering and has been banned from keeping animals for five years.

  • Born: circa 2004
  • Age at Conviction: 22
  • Last Known Address: Faulds Gate, Kincorth, Aberdeen AB12
  • Occupation: Unknown
  • Previous Convictions: None reported
  • Additional Information: Claimed Roberto had only stopped eating that day; described the dog as the “runt of the litter”; expressed embarrassment and regret during sentencing.

Incident Details

On 21 November 2025, Prentice took his 11‑month‑old French Bulldog, Roberto, to the Aberdeen PDSA Pet Hospital in a severely emaciated condition.

Fiscal depute Lisa Logue told the court Roberto was:

  • cold
  • pale
  • lethargic
  • covered in scabs and sores from an untreated skin condition
  • visibly starved, with every bone prominent and no muscle or fat remaining

The attending veterinary surgeon told Prentice he should have sought help much sooner. While the vet was reporting the case to the Scottish SPCA, Roberto tragically died at the hospital.

An SPCA inspector arrived immediately and was shocked by Roberto’s condition.

The vet stated the dog had likely been malnourished for several weeks, contradicting Prentice’s claim that Roberto had only stopped eating that day.

The vet added that any reasonable owner would have sought help when the skin condition worsened or when diarrhoea repeatedly returned.

A post‑mortem found the most likely cause of death was a perforated gastric ulcer and chronic blood loss through gastric haemorrhage. The vet concluded Roberto had suffered for weeks to months.

Woodside, Aberdeen: Craig Taylor

CONVICTED (2026) | Craig Taylor, born c. March 1990, of Printfield Terrace, Woodside, Aberdeen AB24 – left his puppy to endure a severe, untreated skin condition

Prosecution of Aberdeen animal abuser Craig Taylor who left his dog in pain with a severe skin condition and flea infestation.

Taylor was jailed for 28 days after a Scottish SPCA investigation revealed he left his seven-month-old pet in pain with a severe skin condition and flea infestation.

Shar pei crossbreed Tank was discovered in Taylor’s sparsely furnished flat with severe inflammation across his body and deep scratches on his neck.

After the Scottish SPCA flagged the animal welfare concern, inspectors explicitly booked multiple veterinary appointments for the dog.

But Taylor repeatedly failed to attend, ignored follow-up visits, and behaved aggressively toward inspectors when confronted.

Tank was legally removed from the property under a warrant and taken into the care of the Scottish SPCA to receive necessary emergency treatment.

In the dock, Taylor, who has a history of violent criminality, admitted one count of causing a dog unnecessary suffering by failing to seek veterinary treatment for him.

Defence solicitor Christopher Maitland told the court that Taylor’s drug addiction issues were at the root of him not getting help for the dog.

Sheriff Morag McLaughlin fined Taylor £1,000 but gave him no time to pay, meaning he will serve nearly a month in prison instead.

After being prescribed treatment for his condition, Tank was transported to the Scottish SPCA’s Highlands and Islands centre to further recover and be cared for.

He was rehomed in October 2025 and is settling in well to his new home.

The inspector said: “This was an awful case of neglect where the owner failed to seek urgent veterinary treatment for his dog, which resulted in his unnecessary pain and suffering.

“I am pleased that we have managed to get justice for Tank and that he is no longer in distress.”

Peterhead, Aberdeenshire: Sean Stewart

CONVICTED (2026) | Sean Stewart, born c. 2001, of Rose Street, Peterhead AB42 1DB but with links to Orkney, Gateshead, Sunderland and Newcastle upon Tyne – left a dog unattended for a week.

Animal abuser Sean Stewart from Peterhead, who left a dog unattended and facing certain death from starvation.

Stewart left his Peterhead home to travel to Newcastle but made no arrangements for his pet dog, Tess, who was locked inside without food and water. The husky-type dog survived by drinking water from a toilet.

Following an investigation by the Scottish SPCA, Stewart was convicted of causing Tess distress, fear and mental suffering by leaving her alone without access to the outdoors, fresh food or even water.

The charity made several attempts to contact Stewart after they rescued Tess in October 2024, but had to wait a further week for him to respond.

Animal abuser Sean Stewart from Peterhead, who left a dog (Tess, pictured) unattended and facing certain death from starvation.

A Scottish SPCA inspector described conditions within Stewart’s home as “unacceptable … for any animal to be living in”.

They and officers from Police Scotland had to force entry to the property after receiving a report about an abandoned dog and discovered it was covered in dog faeces and urine.

They continued: “There were faeces present throughout the property, particularly in the spare room, hallway and bathroom. The spare room looked to have several days’ worth of faeces and there was also a carrier bag containing faeces hanging on the door.

“Tess had been left with no access to food or clean water. The only water source available to her was the toilet.

“There was also evidence of rubbish and items that had been chewed throughout the property, which indicated that Tess was stressed, anxious and frustrated while being left alone for a prolonged period.”

Tess was removed from the property and taken for further care and attention. She has since been rehomed.

Animal abuser Sean Stewart from Peterhead, who left a dog unattended and facing certain death from starvation.

When the Scottish SPCA Inspector returned to the property a few days later to interview Stewart, he had made no effort to clean the flat, and the faeces were still present.

Reacting to the sentencing, the inspector said: “We are pleased with the Sheriff’s decision. Tess was left alone for several days in conditions that were completely unacceptable and detrimental to her welfare.

“Stewart failed to provide her with even the most basic care, including food, clean water and a safe living environment.”

“We are relieved Tess was removed from the property and has now been given the second chance she deserves.”

Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire: Samantha Stockdale

CONVICTED (2026) | Samantha Stockdale, born c. 1993, previously of Heritage Way, Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire AB43 and now living in Holland Street, Aberdeen AB24 – left two skeletal dogs unattended in foul conditions.

Source: Press & Journal

Six-year-old German Shepherd Max and four-year-old Staffy Marshmallow were left behind to fend for themselves after Stockdale moved out of her trashed flat in Heritage Way, Fraserburgh.

Both dogs were extremely underweight, with their hips, spine and ribs clearly visible from a distance.

Speaking about their investigation, a Scottish SPCA inspector said: “The whole house was in disarray. There were rubbish bags and broken glass littering the floors. The bedroom was cluttered with personal items and cigarette buts – all easily accessible to the dogs. There was several days if not weeks’ worth of faeces and urine throughout the property, the majority of which was loose or diarrhoea. Some of it had already turned mouldy.”

The Scottish SPCA Inspector added: “[The dogs’] behaviour showed they had had no access to appropriate food or water for a long time. There were empty packets of food across the floor that had been chewed by them, and I found Max drinking from the toilet bowl. They were ravenous when we offered them treats and grabbed at them frantically. It was heart-breaking to see there in such poor conditions.

“There was no bedding or comfortable resting area for the dogs other than a piece of carpet which was also soiled with faeces and urine. Two dog bowls were also seen within this contaminated area and contained no food or water.

“It is one of the worst cases of extreme neglect I have seen in years. It was totally disgusting, abhorrent and heart-wrenching to see that someone could keep animals in those conditions.”

The dogs were taken into the charity’s care and transported to the Animal Rescue & Rehabilitation Centre in Aberdeen.

Veterinary examination found they had been unnecessarily suffering for over a month.

Max’s fur was matted and had dried faeces on it. He was skeletal, with a body score of 1/9. His nails were also overgrown on all four paws, which would have been uncomfortable and painful for him.

Marshmallow was also extremely underweight, with a body score of 2/9. Her coat was also soiled with faeces, and she had an infection in both ears for which she was given treatment.

Hauled before Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Stockdale pleaded guilty to a single charge of causing the animals unnecessary suffering.

Defence lawyer Marianne Milligan said her client had “suffered from mental health issues”.

Reacting to the sentencing, the Scottish SPCA inspector said: “We are pleased with the sheriff’s decision. Stockdale showed very little regard for her dogs’ welfare”.

Mastrick, Aberdeen: Connor Cowie

CONVICTED (2026) | Connor Cowie aka Connor Mathieson, born 2 September 1998, with a last known address of Mastrick Drive, Mastrick, Aberdeen AB16 – failed to treat his elderly dog’s abscess.

Prosecution of Aberdeen animal abuser, woman beater and sex offender Connor Cowie aka Connor Mathieson for leaving his elderly dog to suffer.

Cowie was reported to the Scottish SPCA by a concerned member of the public who noticed a large swelling on the left side of his dog’s face in July 2025.

An inspector attempted to make contact with Cowie – a convicted sex offender and domestic abuser* – a number of times before she eventually got him on the phone.

She told Cowie, who was verbally abusive to her down the phone, that she was aware his dog required medical attention. Concerned for the dog’s welfare, the inspector called Cowie straight back and advised that his language was unacceptable and that she was only calling to offer assistance for his dog.

The inspector visited Cowie and was shown 14-year-old Kaido. Suspecting the dog had an abscess, she advised Cowie that his pet needed to be seen by a vet.

Prosecution of Aberdeen animal abuser, woman beater and sex offender Connor Cowie aka Connor Mathieson for leaving his elderly dog to suffer.

The inspector took Kaido to a vet after Cowie claimed that he couldn’t afford vet treatment and wasn’t registered with the PDSA.

By the time Kaido arrived at the vet, his swelling was producing a bloody discharge.

An exam confirmed an abscess.

The vet did not want to perform a surgical procedure at this time due to the location of the abscess so instead, they handed over a seven-day course of antibiotics to start the following day at home to the inspector and said that Kaido should be brought back in a week for a check-in.

The inspector passed on this information to Cowie when he arrived at the vet practice.

Kaido was registered at the vet by the Scottish SPCA and an appointment was arranged for re-examination.

Cowie advised the inspector when she called about the appointment, however, that he had attended the PDSA with Kaido but left before his appointment as he alleged he was being ‘aggressive’ to other dogs in the waiting area.

Prosecution of Aberdeen animal abuser, woman beater and sex offender Connor Cowie aka Connor Mathieson for leaving his elderly dog to suffer.

The inspector also attended Cowie’s address to ensure that the home was suitable to live in. The inspector noted that the property was dirty, cluttered and that the smell of excrement was strong.

A new appointment was arranged at the time for Kaido to go to the vet. A number of attempts were made once more to reach Cowie following this visit but he did not respond.

Growing increasingly concerned for Kaido’s welfare and Cowie’s refusal to take him back to the vet, the Inspector obtained a warrant to enter the property and rescue the dog.

In August 2025, the Scottish SPCA attended the property alongside Police Scotland and seized Kaido. He was taken to a vet, who confirmed that Cowie had caused him unnecessary suffering after failing to have his painful ear infection treated and had allowed it to get so severe that an abscess had formed.

Cowie also failed to continue with the necessary follow-up treatment at the vet after the Scottish SPCA’s initial assistance – causing further suffering. The vet concluded that Kaido’s condition would have taken at least two months to be as severe as it was. He sadly had to be euthanised due to his condition.

A vet confirmed that Cowie had caused Kaido unnecessary suffering by failing to have a painful ear infection treated and had allowed it to get so severe that an abscess had formed.

Prosecution of Aberdeen animal abuser, woman beater and sex offender Connor Cowie aka Connor Mathieson for leaving his elderly dog to suffer.

The Scottish SPCA Inspector said: “I am pleased with the sentence but extremely disappointed with Cowie. I believed he had his own struggles, and I made an effort to help him.

“He had absolutely no excuse for not providing his dog with veterinary treatment, as I arranged everything for him, from covering the cost of initial vet treatment to assisting with registration at the PDSA and making appointments.

“I can only conclude that Cowie held no regard for his dog’s welfare. This was also substantiated by his failure to take on advice and clean his property.”

He targeted one woman with abuse and violence. This involved pushing her on a bed, restricting her breathing, wrapping a cable around her neck and causing her to lose consciousness, pinning her against a wall, holding an axe to her body and threatening to kill her.

Cowie/Mathieson also held a knife against the woman’s head and punched her, leaving her with severe injuries.

He also had sex with two underage girls at a property in Aberdeen.

His offences took place over a four-year period, ending in August 2017,

Oldmeldrum, Aberdeenshire: Gillian Moir

CONVICTED (2026) | serial anmal abuser Gillian Moir, born August 1979, of Oldmeldrum, Inverurie AB51 – severely neglected three pigs.

Prosecution of serial animal abuser Gillian Moir from Oldmeldrum, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for the neglect of three pigs.

Moir, who was already banned from keeping all animals except sheep, pigs, cats and dogs following a 2024 cruelty conviction, admitted welfare breaches in relation to three pigs.

A Scottish SPCA inspector attended an address in Oldmeldrum on April 15, 2025, after a call was made to the charity’s helpline expressing concern for the pigs.

Prosecution of serial animal abuser Gillian Moir from Oldmeldrum, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for the neglect of three pigs.

On arrival at the property, the inspector saw two pigs and six piglets outside in an electric-fenced area.

There was also piping coming out of the ground and a cable with an electric plug on the end which was not known to be live or not.

One of the pigs, the large white sow, had visible hip bones, ribs and spine and she had no muscle on her back end.

Her whole back end swayed when moving and her back legs would cross over when walking. She was the mother of the six piglets.

The other pig, a male Saddleback, appeared in reasonable to good condition.

Moir then took the inspector into a shed where there were four other pigs within an inside pen which was bedded with straw and water was available.

Both a male and female kunekune-type pig appeared to have itchy and red skin – the female also had very overgrown hooves.

Prosecution of serial animal abuser Gillian Moir from Oldmeldrum, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for the neglect of three pigs.

The inspector also viewed the area where the outdoor pigs had access to. It had a small bedded straw area and was severely unkempt with bits of plastic lying around.

Moir signed over the pigs to the Scottish SPCA, and they were taken to one of the society’s centres.

The Scottish SPCA inspector said: “The condition of these pigs was totally unacceptable. No responsible owner would have let their health deteriorate in such a way. It was extremely saddening to see the sow in such poor condition.”

During a veterinary examination, the sow was found to be severely malnourished with a body condition score of one out of five.

The weight loss is most likely to have occurred over a minimum period due to the higher nutritional requirements of the sow with suckling piglets and the inappropriate feeding of the sow over this time.

There was also evidence of lice and hair loss on her skin.

Following a veterinary exam, the male kunekune pig was found to have reddened, inflamed skin behind the ears and around the neck, as well as areas of hair loss over the body.

Prosecution of serial animal abuser Gillian Moir from Oldmeldrum, Inverurie, Aberdeenshire for the neglect of three pigs.

The female kunekune pig had inflamed skin on the lower half of her body and almost complete hair loss. All four feet were overgrown and causing her to walk with abnormally flat feet.

Speaking after the hearing, a Scottish SPCA inspector said: “We are disappointed with the outcome and the court’s decision.”

“Given Ms Moir has previously been convicted of animal neglect, to find further animals neglected in this way is extremely disappointing.”

St Cyrus, Aberdeenshire: Luke Wilson

CONVICTED (2026) | dog walker Luke Wilson, born 4 November 2005, of Davidson Place, St Cyrus, Montrose DD10 0BS – sexually attacked a dog he “clicked” with.

St Cyrus animal rapist and paedophile Luke Wilson subjected an elderly dog to a violent and prolonged sexual assault.
St Cyrus animal rapist and paedophile Luke Wilson subjected an elderly dog to a violent and prolonged sexual assault.

Wilson, who has links to Hartlepool, County Durham, admitted carrying out an “utterly despicable” sex attack on a 15-year-old female Staffy cross he was walking for a stranger.

Fiscal depute David Rogers told the court that in April 2025, Wilson had replied to an online advertisement seeking someone to walk two dogs, Betty and Iffie.

On 25 April Wilson arrived at their owner’s address to pick up the dogs and was advised that, due to Iffie’s age, she should not be walked for longer than an hour.

When Wilson had not returned with the dogs after two hours, the owner became concerned.

At 7pm, Wilson texted the worried woman.

The text stated: “I know this is going to sound stupid but is there any chance I can look after Iffie for a day or two as me and her have really clicked.”

St Cyrus animal rapist and paedophile Luke Wilson subjected an elderly dog to a violent and prolonged sexual assault.

Thinking this was strange, the owner told Wilson he could not keep the dogs, and offered to fetch them.

But Wilson replied that he was going to give Iffie a shower, which alarmed the woman.

She travelled to St Cyrus, where she met Wilson with her dogs on the side of a main road.

Iffie was soaking wet and shivering, and Betty “looked anxious”, Mr Rogers told the court.

When the dogs’ owner returned home, she noticed blood running down Iffie’s hind legs. She was whimpering and crying while attempting to relieve herself.

The woman quizzed Wilson, who stated that the dog had “yelped once” while going to urinate and that he thought she had “sat on a stick”.

Two days later, Wilson messaged the woman to ask if he could walk the dogs again, but she refused.

After examining Iffie, a vet advised the owner to contact the police.

On April 29, police executed a search warrant at Wilson’s address, where they found videos and images of Iffie on Wilson’s phone.

The disturbing content was of a sexual nature and extremely violent.

During a police interview, Wilson admitted to committing various sexual acts on the dog, most of which are too shocking to document.

Examination of Wilson’s phone uncovered footage of him with a second, unidentified dog with short dark ginger hair.

Officers also found evidence that Wilson had been chatting to what he believed was a 10-year-old girl online, who had sent various child sexual abuse material in exchange for money.

St Cyrus animal rapist and paedophile Luke Wilson subjected an elderly dog to a violent and prolonged sexual assault.

There was also a reference made to another charge from 2024 of Wilson being in possession of dozens of indecent images and videos of children.

Some of the children featured were toddlers and newborn babies.

Police also found videos of bestiality on Wilson’s mobile phone.

Brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of having an unnatural connection with a dog and another charge of causing a dog unnecessary suffering.

He also admitted possessing indecent images of children and another charge of downloading child abuse material. He also pleaded guilty to one charge of communicating indecently with a child and requesting sexual images.

Defence solicitor Liam Mcallister told the court that his client’s “repugnant behaviour” had occurred when he was a teenager.

“This is a young man whose life has changed forever and has changed other people’s, no doubt forever,” the solicitor said.

“Mr Wilson has engaged in heinous and repulsive offending and has to be looked at as the actions of a still very immature man who will now have to live with the shame and disgust of what he has done for the rest of his life.”

Describing Wilson’s offending as “utterly despicable”, Mr Mcallister said work needs to be done with his client to ensure “this disgusting behaviour can never happen again”.

Sheriff Ian Wallace told Wilson he had committed acts that were “serious and disturbing” and which “defy understanding and words”.

“You have committed offences that have caused significant harm to children and animals, And to the owners of those animals,” he said.

“Your sentence must have a focus on your rehabilitation, but you must also be punished – and must protect the public.”

Telling Wilson that only a prison sentence was appropriate, Sheriff Wallace sentenced Wilson, of Davidson Place, St Cyrus, to two years in prison and two years on licence.

He also put a sexual harm prevention order in place for six years, meaning that Wilson cannot have access to the internet or keep animals for six years.

The sheriff also placed Wilson on the sex offenders register for life.

Sentencing | four-year custodial with half to be served behind bars and half on licence. Six-year sexual harm prevention order. Banned from keeping animals for six years (expires April 2032).

Bridge of Don, Aberdeen: Paul Robertson

CONVICTED (2026) | Paul Robertson, born c. 1988, of Donmouth Court, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen AB23 8FY – kept two bull-breed dogs in foul conditions and allowed one of them to attack another dog and his owner.

Animal abuser! Aberdeen man Ian Robertson kept his dogs in a property with faeces all over the floor, broken furniture and rotting food. He also allowed one dog to attack another dog and his owner.

Robertson was banned from keeping animals for five years after his pitbull-type dog, Ozzy, escaped and attacked a woman and her dog.

On 5 December 2024, the woman was walking her dog, Spike, in the Donmouth area of Aberdeen when Ozzy attacked them. The woman was hospitalised overnight with hand lacerations after attempting to free her dog from Ozzy’s jaws. The extent of injuries suffered by Spike has not been reported and it’s not known if he survived.

Following the incident, police discovered Robertson’s home at Donmouth Court, Bridge of Don, in an “appalling” state. Reports described the property as littered with faeces, rotting food, and broken furniture, rendering it unfit for humans or animals.

A second dog, an American Bully named Bungo, was found barricaded in the kitchen.

Robertson admitted to keeping both dogs in these unsanitary conditions.

Sheriff Joseph Platt placed him under a two-year community payback order with supervision, citing the need to address the defendant’s mental health and drug misuse issues.

Sentencing |

Tillydrone, Aberdeen: Kalith Cameron

CONVICTED (2025 | Kalith Cameron, born c. 1997, of Bradley Terrace, Tillydrone, Aberdeen AB24 2TA – abandoned three “extremely aggressive” dogs.

Animal abuser! Prosecution of Aberdeen man Kalith Cameron who abandoned three starving dogs in filth

Cameron was prosecuted in relation to a six-year-old American bulldog called Diesel, a nine-month-old bullbreed-type dog, Gucci, and an unnamed Cane Corso mastiff after leaving them unattended in vile conditions.

Police officers broke into the upstairs flat on Bradley Terrace following reports of flooding and discovered the “extremely aggressive” dogs inside.

The source of the water was found to be a bath tap. It had been running into a bath that was so full of dog faeces it had clogged the drain and caused the bath to overflow.

The sheer amount had caused the bath to overflow and had blocked the drain.

Prosecution of Aberdeen man Kalith Cameron who abandoned three starving dogs in filth Pictured are the horrific conditions in which the dogs were kept

Water had flowed through the property and even into the hallway, where it had broken up the faeces, creating a poo slush seeping into other areas of the building.

Because the property had no carpet or linoleum, the water had seeped through the floorboards to the flat below.

The dogs were believed to have been abandoned in the squalid conditions, with Diesel developing a painful ear infection.

When Cameron arrived at the property, he stated he hadn’t been living there.

Cameron claimed that only Diesel was his and that the two other dogs belonged to a friend.

The Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) were granted access to the property to assess the living conditions.

The SSPCA inspector said: “The floor of the hallway was almost entirely covered in faeces. Upon entering the living room, more faeces and urine were present. The sofas were damaged and all the furniture appeared to have been soiled by the dogs.”

Gucci

Gucci was taken to the SSPCA’s Aberdeen Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre. Diesel was initially released to the care of a co-owner, on the condition that he was brought for urgent veterinary treatment the following morning.

On examination, Diesel was found to have a body condition score of just 2/9, meaning he had no discernible body fat and his spine, ribs and other bony prominences were highly visible.

A vet confirmed he had been in pain from his ear wound for around two weeks, and his poor body condition indicated a lack of nutrition for an even longer period.

The Inspector added: “I was disgusted at the conditions within the property and the lack of suitable provisions made for the dogs, particularly as the owner had previously been advised that these conditions were unacceptable.

Following veterinary treatment, which the Scottish SPCA oversaw, Diesel has made a full recovery.

Both Diesel and Gucci have since been rehomed.

In the dock, Cameron pleaded guilty to one count of causing unnecessary suffering to Gucci and the Cane Corso by leaving them in an unsuitable environment where water, faeces and urine had mixed together.

He also admitted a second charge of causing Diesel unnecessary suffering by abandoning him within the same property.
