This category covers cases where offenders engage in sexual acts with animals or create, possess or distribute related material. These offences cause significant physical and psychological harm to animals and are closely associated with coercive control, violence, organised abuse and other high‑risk behavioural patterns. Cases often involve filming or sharing abusive content, exploiting vulnerable animals, or offending within networks that facilitate or encourage this behaviour. Bestiality is a serious criminal offence in the UK and represents one of the highest‑risk cruelty categories, frequently linked to repeat offending, escalating violence and danger to both animals and the wider public.
CONVICTED (2026) | serial sex offender Peter Denzil Ash, born April 1973, of Kenwyn Park, Truro TR1 3DZ – used his pet dog “for sexual gratification*.
Registered sex offender Ash appeared via video link from HMP Channings Wood and pleaded guilty to failing to meet the welfare needs of his male Labrador cross, Samson. The court heard how he “exploited his dog for his own sexual gratification” and had likely trained him for the sick act.
Ash’s latest conviction comes just weeks after he was handed a 21-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to three breaches of a sexual harm prevention order (SHPO), possession of extreme pornography and a breach of his notification requirements as a sex offender.
He was previously convicted of possessing child sexual abuse images in 2022 and was given a SHPO as part of his sentence at the time.
In September 2025, Devon and Cornwall Police received intelligence that a user on an online platform had been discussing child abuse. Ash was identified and arrested at his home.
It was found he had failed to inform police he had a new electronic device, installed encrypted applications and used a virtual private network (VPN) to mask his IP address and prevent police from tracing his internet history.
When the device was examined, an image of a person performing a sexual act on a dog was found.
An application to hand Samson over to the RSPCA was granted during the hearing.
Sentencing | 16-week custodial to run consecutively to his current sentence; ordered to pay a £154 victim surcharge and £400 in costs. Disqualified from owning, keeping or being involved in the care or control of animals for ten years (expires March 2036).
CONVICTED (2026) | dog walker Luke Wilson, born 4 November 2005, of Davidson Place, St Cyrus, Montrose DD10 0BS – sexually attacked a dog he “clicked” with.
St Cyrus animal rapist and paedophile Luke Wilson subjected an elderly dog to a violent and prolonged sexual assault.
Wilson, who has links to Hartlepool, County Durham, admitted carrying out an “utterly despicable” sex attack on a 15-year-old female Staffy cross he was walking for a stranger.
Fiscal depute David Rogers told the court that in April 2025, Wilson had replied to an online advertisement seeking someone to walk two dogs, Betty and Iffie.
On 25 April Wilson arrived at their owner’s address to pick up the dogs and was advised that, due to Iffie’s age, she should not be walked for longer than an hour.
When Wilson had not returned with the dogs after two hours, the owner became concerned.
At 7pm, Wilson texted the worried woman.
The text stated: “I know this is going to sound stupid but is there any chance I can look after Iffie for a day or two as me and her have really clicked.”
Thinking this was strange, the owner told Wilson he could not keep the dogs, and offered to fetch them.
But Wilson replied that he was going to give Iffie a shower, which alarmed the woman.
She travelled to St Cyrus, where she met Wilson with her dogs on the side of a main road.
Iffie was soaking wet and shivering, and Betty “looked anxious”, Mr Rogers told the court.
When the dogs’ owner returned home, she noticed blood running down Iffie’s hind legs. She was whimpering and crying while attempting to relieve herself.
The woman quizzed Wilson, who stated that the dog had “yelped once” while going to urinate and that he thought she had “sat on a stick”.
Two days later, Wilson messaged the woman to ask if he could walk the dogs again, but she refused.
After examining Iffie, a vet advised the owner to contact the police.
On April 29, police executed a search warrant at Wilson’s address, where they found videos and images of Iffie on Wilson’s phone.
The disturbing content was of a sexual nature and extremely violent.
During a police interview, Wilson admitted to committing various sexual acts on the dog, most of which are too shocking to document.
Examination of Wilson’s phone uncovered footage of him with a second, unidentified dog with short dark ginger hair.
Officers also found evidence that Wilson had been chatting to what he believed was a 10-year-old girl online, who had sent various child sexual abuse material in exchange for money.
There was also a reference made to another charge from 2024 of Wilson being in possession of dozens of indecent images and videos of children.
Some of the children featured were toddlers and newborn babies.
Police also found videos of bestiality on Wilson’s mobile phone.
Brought before Aberdeen Sheriff Court, Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of having an unnatural connection with a dog and another charge of causing a dog unnecessary suffering.
He also admitted possessing indecent images of children and another charge of downloading child abuse material. He also pleaded guilty to one charge of communicating indecently with a child and requesting sexual images.
Defence solicitor Liam Mcallister told the court that his client’s “repugnant behaviour” had occurred when he was a teenager.
“This is a young man whose life has changed forever and has changed other people’s, no doubt forever,” the solicitor said.
“Mr Wilson has engaged in heinous and repulsive offending and has to be looked at as the actions of a still very immature man who will now have to live with the shame and disgust of what he has done for the rest of his life.”
Describing Wilson’s offending as “utterly despicable”, Mr Mcallister said work needs to be done with his client to ensure “this disgusting behaviour can never happen again”.
Sheriff Ian Wallace told Wilson he had committed acts that were “serious and disturbing” and which “defy understanding and words”.
“You have committed offences that have caused significant harm to children and animals, And to the owners of those animals,” he said.
“Your sentence must have a focus on your rehabilitation, but you must also be punished – and must protect the public.”
Telling Wilson that only a prison sentence was appropriate, Sheriff Wallace sentenced Wilson, of Davidson Place, St Cyrus, to two years in prison and two years on licence.
He also put a sexual harm prevention order in place for six years, meaning that Wilson cannot have access to the internet or keep animals for six years.
The sheriff also placed Wilson on the sex offenders register for life.
Sentencing | four-year custodial with half to be served behind bars and half on licence. Six-year sexual harm prevention order. Banned from keeping animals for six years (expires April 2032).
CONVICTED (2026) | paedophiles and dog rapists Scott Topley, born 7 October 1979, and Gordon Phillips, born 4 July 1984, previously of Fall Road, Heanor DE75 7PQ
Topley and Phillips were jailed after downloading more than a thousand indecent images of children and sharing them online. Material showing the pair sexually abusing their pet dog were also discovered.
Topley was arrested after he was identified from a video found on a mobile phone, which was seized as part of an unrelated police investigation by another force.
In the video, Topley could be seen performing a sex act whilst viewing indecent images of children.
The address he shared with partner Gordon Phillips in Fall Road, Heanor, was subsequently searched, and their devices were seized.
Phillips’ device was found to contain indecent images and he was also arrested.
The force found more than a thousand images relating to child sexual abuse, as well as material relating to extreme pornography and sexual abuse of their pet dog.
The men were charged with making indecent images of children, distributing indecent images of children, possessing prohibited image/s of children, and possessing extreme pornographic image/s of sex with an animal on May 28, 2025.
They admitted the offences at a hearing on July 24 and were sentenced at Nottingham Crown Court on January 29, 2026.
Officer in the case, PC Michelle Azizi, said: “Together, Scott Topley and Gordon Phillips relished in their criminality.
“They took part in harmful online activities, viewing and sharing child and animal sexual abuse material with other like-minded individuals.
Sentencing | 6 years and 3 months in prison; 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Orders.
CONVICTED (2026) | Hannah Wilks aka Levi Wilks or Levi Radford, born 7 May 2003, of Crowthorp Road, Rectory Farm, Northampton NN3 5DU – committed “an inappropriate act” on her bulldog puppy, kept him in filthy and cramped conditions, and left him unattended for long periods.
Wilks pleaded guilty to failing to meet the needs of the 14-week-old dog, Tyson, who was found in her filthy and litter-strewn flat with no access to water. The RSPCA were also sent a video which appeared to show Wilks committing an “inappropriate act” on the dog. He was also left alone for prolonged periods including overnight.
On May 22, 2025, RSPCA inspector Rebecca Harlock attended Wilks’ address with a police officer and housing officer and found Tyson in a three foot by two foot cage in a bedroom.
The inspector said in a statement presented to the court that the flat smelt of urine and faeces and there was no bedding inside Tyson’s filthy cage.
Inspector Harlock said: “The cage was dirty with faeces and the puppy pads were soaked through. Tyson had dirty legs where he had been sitting down in his own mess within the crate. I let the dog out and he was desperate for water.”
During a visit on May 29, 2025, RSPCA inspector Susan Haywood found that the flat had been partially tidied up. She told Wilks she had to provide a larger crate for Tyson, however.
When Inspector Horlock reattended on June 4, she asked Wilks about a video that had been sent to the RSPCA, which appeared to show her committing an “inappropriate act” on the dog.
“She denied the allegation until I informed her I had seen the video. She then said she was being harassed and bullied by several people who told her to do it and held a knife to her throat,” said the inspector in a statement.
“I asked her if she was doing these things to the dog when she was on her own with it and she said she wasn’t.”
Tyson was seized two days later after his living conditions had deteriorated again. The flat was still dirty with faeces in the bedroom and there was rubbish and hazards on the floor.
After viewing video footage of the scene, a vet concluded the dog had not had his needs met.
Speaking after the sentencing, Ms Haywood said: “We visited Wilks’ flat on a number of occasions to offer advice and help to improve the conditions this poor dog was living in.
“The defendant refused to take heed and it was clear Tyson was not being cared for properly or treated with respect and dignity.”
Tyson was signed over into the care of the RSPCA and will be rehomed by the charity.
Sentencing | fined £120 and ordered to pay costs of £350 and victim surcharge of £48. 10-year disqualification from keeping animals (expires February 2036).
Additional Information | social media allegations that Hannah Wilks is a persistent animal abuser with multiple previous victims
After details of Hannah Wilks’ conviction in relation to Tyson were published on Facebook, several individuals including a respected welfare organisation alleged that this was not a one-off incident.
“I honestly cannot believe what I have just read, and I’m absolutely heartbroken.
“Two years ago, we took in a dog called ZEUS from this woman due to severe neglect. At the time, she had him booked to be put to sleep rather than address his needs. We stepped in to give him the chance he deserved, as the situation he was in was completely unacceptable.
“Tonight, I opened Facebook and was devastated to see that she is now listed on a cruelty file after neglecting yet another dog. This time, the victim is Tyson, a 14-week-old puppy, and the situation is even more disturbing due to an inappropriate act being committed against him.
“It is absolutely heartbreaking that this has happened again, and that another innocent dog has suffered in her care. Please, do not rehome your dogs to this woman under any circumstances.
“My thoughts are with little Tyson, and I truly hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.”
Her is a flavour of some of the other comments, with some people alleging that Wilks is also known for violence, nuisance behaviour, menace and harassment. Source names pixelated for privacy reasons.
CONVICTED (2026) | backyard breeders Lee Lock, born c. 1987, and Zoe Graham, born c. 1992, of Coombs Road, Milford Haven SA73 1DD – for the shocking neglect of 52 animals many of whom didn’t survive; one deceased dog sexually abused.
The couple, who bred dogs under the name New Age Bullyz, kept dozens of starving and unwell animals at their squalid home.
Dyfed Powys Police, the RSPCA and two vets attended the property on December 29, 2024 where 29 dogs and puppies, 17 snakes, one Hermanns tortoise, a leopard gecko and a monitor lizard were found in appalling conditions and taken into possession by police.

Many of the dogs and snakes were emaciated and sick, with some dying shortly after being rescued while others had to be euthanised on humane grounds.
In a freezer at the property inspectors found the parasite-riddled body of a deceased French Bulldog. A second dead French Bulldog, named as Titch, was found dumped in a shed. Alongside infected bite wounds, ulcerated feet and lameness, he had a tear to his rectum, which had been “caused by the insertion of a blunt object”. The type of object couldn’t be determined.
Titch had suffered a litany of injuries prior to dying. These included an injury to his rectum caused by the insertion of a blunt object. Credit: RSPCA
During interview with the RSPCA, Lock remained silent but once it was over he became abusive to officers and accused them of raping his dog.
Post-mortem examination of Titch confirmed a “rectal tear” which had occurred when he was alive causing him “extreme pain.”
In a written statement, RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben said when he entered the property in December 2024 he was “hit by a strong smell of dog faeces and urine”.
Credit: RSPCA
He said: “The hallway floor was wet and had what looked like mud and dog faeces trodden into the wooden floor.
“I then made my way into bedroom one at the front of the property where I observed several adult French Bulldog type dogs and some small puppies that seemed a few days old and some larger puppies approximately three to four weeks old.
“Some of these dogs were in thin condition but were alert, active.
“Conditions in the bedroom were very poor with the same overpowering smell of dog faeces and urine. There was household rubbish in the room, clothes scattered all around, a bank of six small cages in filthy soiled conditions with faeces and urine present, mouldy food and in the middle two cages was a French Bulldog living in appalling conditions.
“To the right of the bedroom door as you enter was a sectioned of area that was contaminated with faeces, urine, soiled water, dog food, dog toys.”
In the second bedroom there were no dogs but there were several dog cages, some “soiled” with “dirty bowls” and the smell of the room was “overpowering”.
Credit: RSPCA
In the bathroom he found five French Bulldog types who were alert and active. There was some water present along with dog faeces.
In the kitchen which he described as “filthy” he found a cream coloured French Bulldog with her ribs easily visible. Also in the kitchen close to the back door was a dog pen with two French Bulldog types and an English Bulldog type living in “filthy conditions with many piles of dog faeces that the dog’s could not avoid”.
He said: “The three dogs were trying to all get into one small plastic dog bed inside the pen although there was no bedding in this dog bed.”
In the back yard were two collie type dogs that seemed in normal condition, alert and active. The dog’s coats were dirty and the environment was totally unsuitable with no clean area for the dogs.
He added: “The whole of the back yard was covered in wet mud, faeces and there was an overpowering smell of faeces and urine. Inside a shed the these dogs had access to was a container full of green coloured dirty water and the the conditions in this shed were again filthy, the smell in the shed was overpowering which made me cough and gag.
“Outside the back door by the step was a large amount of dry dog food which looked like it had been thrown there from the back door, one of the collie type dogs was lying on this food as that was the only dry space.”
In the living room he found a further five French Bulldog type dogs and a bully type dog that was in “very thin condition with her hips, spine and ribs easily visible”.
Credit: RSPCA
Inspector Hogben added: “Along with the dogs inside the front living room were a number of vivariums which held many snakes of the constrictor type.
“Conditions in the vivariums looked poor, all had soiled substrate, dirty water in filthy bowls, no hiding places and no enrichment in the vivariums.
“The glass fronts on the vivariums were dirty. Some of the snakes looked in thin condition with their spines easily visible. In another vivarium opposite the snakes I observed a tortoise and a gecko in the same vivarium.
“There was no water in this vivarium or any enrichment, the tortoise was trying to climb the sides of the vivarium and the gecko seemed lethargic.
“There was also a small monitor lizard in a plastic tray that was in a bank of 20 stacked trays as you entered the room. This lizard was alert, active and had water present which the lizard was laying in.”
The other dog suffered as a consequence of the “extreme emaciation”.
In total 17 live snakes, one tortoise, one gecko, one monitor lizard were taken into possession by police and were handed into the care of the RSPCA.
One snake was found to be dead and three snakes would need to be euthanised on welfare grounds. Three more snakes later died along with the gecko.
One dog was transferred to another charity for ongoing care and another dog – an XL Bully – was euthanised due to legislation. The exotics were rehomed by a specialist exotics centre.
All the other dogs received the treatment and care they needed from the RSPCA with all but four dogs signed over into the care of the charity being happily rehomed. These four dogs have now been signed over to the RSPCA and will now be rehomed.

In court, Lock and Graham pleaded guilty to a string of animal welfare offences, alongside drug charges.
Graham admitted 14 offences under the Animal Welfare Act and Lock admitted 12 offences under the Animal Welfare Act.
Twelve of the offences were joint offences with the seven of these relating to causing suffering to six different French Bulldogs.
The court heard that cocaine addict Lock has 12 previous convictions for 19 offences including engaging in coercive behaviour, dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and possession of a bladed article.
The pair were backyard breeders trading under the name New Age Bullyz.
In mitigation it was heard that Lock had been “suffering with his mental health” following family bereavements.
While the pre-sentence report raised “the issue of his sexual interests” he was only prosecuted for not seeking treatment for Titch’s ruptured rectum rather than causing it.
It was said in mitigation for “fragile” Graham that her original intention had been to provide a home for otherwise homeless animals; but conditions “deteriorated rapidly as the number of animals increased. This included the arrival of the litter of puppies.
Judge Huw Rees told the defendants they were responsible for “a litany of unconscionable cruelty to animals”. He said it was to the couple’s shame that they had been keeping animals in “filthy conditions”.
Following sentencing, RSPCA Inspector Hogben, said: “I would like to thank everyone involved in this complex case, from my dedicated colleagues, Dyfed Powys Police, the vets, the exotics centre and a charity partner. It was a real team effort, and although not all the animals survived – it is great to see those who have been rehomed into loving homes.”
Sentencing | Lock: a total of 45 months in prison including 27 months for the animal welfare offences. 25-year ban. Graham: 18 months in prison. 15-year ban. WalesOnline (paywalled) WalesOnline (archived) Tenby Observer
Update | June 2026
During a proceeds of crime hearing at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that Lee Lock had made more than £110,000 from crime, including the production of magic mushrooms.
The court heard that Lock has just £15,713 in available assets.
He was ordered to hand this over within two months or face an extra nine months in prison in default.
Lock’s barrister Jon Tarrant told Judge Catherine Richards that his client refused to leave his cell at the court to attend the hearing.
CONVICTED (2025) | married couple Daniel Rochford, born c. 1982, and Jennifer Rochford, born c. 1983, of New Lane, Penwortham, Preston PR1 9JJ – made videos of animals being sexually abused.
Paedophile Daniel Rochford encouraged his wife Jennifer to have sex with their dogs and recorded the footage.
The pair were active members of online zoophile communities, with Jennifer Rochford even serving as an administrator on one group.
Electronic devices seized from the pair contained thousands of indecent images. Jennifer Rochford had 1,764 extreme pornographic (bestiality) images, while her husband had 2,180 such images. He was also found with 165 child abuse images, 92 of which were classed as category A – the most serious type – along with 29 category B, and 44 category C.
Daniel Rochford also raped and sexually abused a schoolgirl and exposed another youngster to pornography which was ‘well beyond their years’. He bullied, degraded and humiliated the children for his own satisfaction – then forced them to relive their experiences at a trial.
He was found guilty of rape, sexual activity in the presence of a child, causing a child to watch a sexual act, and sexual communication with a child, sexual assault and voyeurism, as well as encouraging his wife to have sex with the dog by recording it.
“You have no remorse,” Judge Guy Mathieson told him. “You believe you are entitled to do what you want, when you want to whatever woman or girl is in your life, raping them, corrupting them or demeaning them for your own sexual gratification.”
Jennifer Rochford pleaded guilty to eight counts of bestiality and possession of extreme pornography.
Judge Mathieson said she was “blinded by love” for her husband when she took part in sexual activity with the dogs but that she had done so willingly.
He continued: “The footage and commentary shows exactly how much sexual delight and pleasure you both derived from these acts. It is sickening.”
The judge added: “That’s what he wanted you to do. You loved him and you would do it. It didn’t take force, coercion, or manipulation. You never showed any reluctance or refusal to participate. You lost any sense of decency or morality.”
Judge Mathieson concluded: “You took sexual delight and gratification in watching such abhorrent images. But that was not the worst of your depravity.”
Sentencing |
Daniel Rochford: 21 years’ imprisonment followed by an eight-year extended licence period; sexual harm prevention order (SHPO); indefinite placement on the sex offenders register.
Jennifer Rochford: nine-month custodial suspended for two years; 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement; three-year sexual harm prevention order (SHPO); 10-year placement on the sex offenders register.
CONVICTED (2025) | Wyll Francis Alexander Burling, born c. 2003, of Cardrew Terrace, East End, Redruth TR15 1PD – had sex with a horse.
Horse rapist Wyll Burling from Redruth, Cornwall.
Burling admitted that on January 28, 2024 in the Redruth area of Cornwall he intentionally performed an act of penetration with his penis on the vagina of a living animal, namely a horse, knowing, or being reckless as to whether, that is what was penetrated.
Sentencing | community orderwith 40 days of rehabilitation activity. Ordered to pay £556.57 in compensation and pay £200 fine.
CONVICTED (2025) | Kirt Tabberer, born 16 August 1990, of 28 Little Hill, Droitwich WR9 0RQ – possession of extreme animal pornography and made indecent images of children.
Tabberer, who was once a youth ambassador for the Prince’s Trust, was found to have made 62 category A images, 25 category B images, and three category C images.
The other two orders are for possession of two extreme pornographic images and for possession of prohibited pornographic images of children.
Tabberer’s activities first came to the attention of officers after reports he uploaded a category C indecent image of a child to a Snapchat user account in 2019.
Enquiries linked the account to him where he was arrested by police on suspicion of possession and distribution of indecent images.
Electronic devices were seized including a mobile phone containing extreme pornography, so he was further arrested on suspicion of possessing extreme pornography.
Tabberer initially denied the allegations, claiming his device had been hacked but digital forensics proved otherwise.
He was due to stand trial, however changed his plea to guilty.
DC David Wood, who led the investigation, said: “This sentence has arisen from the excellent work by our Digital Forensic Team who counteracted Tabberer’s lies and presented strong evidence that led to his change in plea.
“Whilst he tried to deny responsibility for his crimes, our digital investigators exposed to the horrific material as they deconstructed his claims made in two separate interviews.
“Their professionalism and dedication not only to this job but all the others like it are a testament to their focus in protecting our communities.”
Sentencing | three-month tagging order; 5 x three-year community orders to run concurrently; five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order; ordered to register as a sex offender for five years; £1,200 in costs plus £85 victim surcharge; forfeiture of electronic devices.
CONVICTED (2025) | Corey Coleman, born c. 1999, of Park View, Llanharan, Pontyclun CF72 9SB – caught on CCTV sexually abusing horses.
Corey Coleman’s depraved abuse of horses was said to have gone on ‘for many months’
Coleman sexually abused the animals – a palomino stallion called Benny, a bay mare with white markings called Narla and a bay colt called Bear – at Ynyscrug Livery in Pantybrad, Rhondda Cynon Taf where he helped out. He was only caught when he was found injured on the ground.
When asked by stable owner Alex Hill about his injuries, Coleman said that “one of the stallions in the yard had attempted to mount him”.
This prompted Mr Hill to check his CCTV, with footage from 15 July 2024 showing Coleman “teasing and arousing” a horse.
Narla
Footage from 27 June 2024 – the date Coleman was injured – and 29 July 2024 showed similar incidents, but the court heard it was hard to tell exactly was happening.
On 31 July, police, the RSPCA and a vet attended the yard and identified the three horses seen on the CCTV.
Source: Wales Online
In a witness statement, RSPCA Inspector Keith Hogben said that outside the stable where Benny was kept was a plastic container which he was told belonged to Corey Coleman.
He said: “In this container was a bottle of baby lotion that was also seen in the CCTV videos, this baby lotion bottle was photographed by myself in situ.”
A report from an independent expert vet was provided to the court.
The vet said that: “It is my expert opinion that the CCTV shows Mr Coleman sexually abusing both stallions and that in doing so he has caused them both to suffer unnecessarily as shown by their aversive behaviour in moving away from him and circling around from him.”
He added that in his opinion the abuse had “been conducted over a prolonged period of time as the horses were conditioned to this abuse.”
Bear
In court Coleman pleaded guilty to four animal welfare offences. These included causing unnecessary suffering to Benny and Bear by subjecting them to a combination of sexual, physical and emotional abuse.
He also admitted to failing to meet the needs of the animals to protect them from pain, suffering, injury and disease and also to the mare Narla who was in season at the time of the offences and was exposed to a risk of injury from the stallions.
Daniel Mags, defending, admitted it was a “very unusual case”, and Coleman found it difficult to discuss the incidents because of his “embarrassment”.
He added his client had already suffered an “element of instant karma” following his injuries and accepted he had “an unhealthy interest” in horses.
Coleman was previously involved in an equine events organisation, but had “destroyed any future career of that nature” and was now having counselling.
Chairman of magistrates Jeffery Edwards said Coleman committed “numerous offences over a prolonged period of time” but there was a “prospect of rehabilitation”.
Speaking after the hearing, RSPCA Deputy Chief Inspector Gemma Cooper said: “Following an examination by a vet thankfully the horses were found to be okay despite having to endure this abuse and suffering.
“We’d like to thank everyone involved – in what has been a harrowing case.”
Sentencing | eight-week custodial, suspended for 12 months; £474 costs. Disqualified from owning, keeping or transporting horses, or participating in their keeping, for five years (expires July 2030).
Coleman and his girlfriend, Sophie Jayne Roberts, are carrying on about their lives without a care in the world.
Coleman with Sophie Jayne Roberts, who is reportedly standing by her perverted boyfriend
He was only caught after the insurance company he claimed off looked into yard cctv and they came across many concerning clips of him sexually abusing his and his girlfriends mares and stallions. He was using a chair to stand behind and reach.
Sophie also had access to the stable camera so she knew the abuse was going on, but she turned a blind eye.
They now live at 38 Conway Crescent, Tonteg, Pontypridd CF38 1HP with her mother. Sophie and her mother have stuck by him and supported and protected him all the way through his conviction.
He has allegedly been spotted lurking around a livery yard in the Rhondda Cynon Taff area.
CONVICTED (2025) | Terence Bennett, born c. 1958, of Cornwell Close, Gosport PO13 9QN – raped his pet dog.
Bennett was caught after a neighbour saw him sexually abusing the nine-year-old Staffy/Rottweiler cross, Ali, through a gap in his curtains. The neighbour, Kelly Nelson, witnessed Bennett “holding the dog and thrusting into the rear of it” while the animal screamed in pain and distress.
Prosecuting Laura Jenking-Rees said Ms Nelson had been walking home from the shops with food for her children in Gosport on October 28, 2021, when she heard ‘loud’ and ‘distressed’ cries from the animal.
She said:’ [Ms Nelson] describes it as horrible and sickening, it sounded as if the animal was in pain.
The passerby then looked into Bennett’s window to further investigate, and witnessed the pensioner committing an act that was ‘sickening to watch’.
‘She went home and spoke to a neighbour who advised her to report it to the RSPCA. They told her to call the police,’ Ms Jenking-Rees said.
‘The defendant was arrested and his dog was seized. The RSPCA officer described Ali as very nervous and anxious and as being one of the fattest dogs she had ever seen.
‘The defendant was interviewed under caution, he denied all the allegations, attributing it to a grudge his neighbours had.
‘There are a number of aspects to this offence that show unnecessary suffering has been caused when the court considers the eye witness and veterinary evidence.’
Ms Nelson, who lives a few streets away, told the court it was ‘obvious’ to her what Bennett was doing and that Ali’s cries were ‘chilling’.
She said: ‘I heard an animal in pain, it wasn’t normal, I have got a dog and if I was to here a cry like that I would be straight outside.
‘It was chilling, an awful noise.’
When asked by Ms Jenking-Rees what she could see, Ms Nelson said: ‘It was obvious what he was doing, put it that way.’
In his defence, Bennett insisted he would never have sex with his dog and that the rear injuries may have been caused by her eating bones.
He said: ‘I swear on my mother’s life, I would not do that sort of thing. I certainly was not doing that, I was brushing her maybe.
‘I think it is disgusting. I swear the injuries were not by me, she has been eating a lot of bones.’
He also claimed that Ali was an anxious dog because she had been bitten by a previous owner.
The dog suffered injuries and was passed into the care of the RSPCA.
Sentencing Bennett, District Judge David Robinson described the scene witnessed by the neighbour as ‘disgusting’.
He said: ‘[She] is still traumatised to this day by what she saw. You caused Ali a substantial level of pain.
‘The aggravating feature is the nature of this disgusting act which you inflicted on the dog for your sexual pleasure.
‘I am going to disqualify you from keeping animals, I am going to make it indefinite because I am concerned there may be repetition of behaviour such as this.’
Mitigating, Roni Pittman explained that Bennett is ‘vulnerable’ and has been ‘hugely affected’ by isolation in his area, dating back to before this incident.
She said: ‘Bennett has had trouble in the local area for a number of years.
‘His issues have affected his physical and mental health, isolation in the area has had a huge effect on him.’
Ms Pittman added that he had been of good character since 1991, although details of that conviction were not disclosed to the court.
The trial heard that Bennett had owned Ali for somewhere between five and eight years.
Sentencing | one-year suspended prison sentence; 25 rehabilitation days; £128 statutory surcharge and costs of £400. Disqualified from keeping animals indefinitely but can appeal after five years.
