Henderson has been banned from keeping animals for five years after a severely emaciated whippet was discovered confined inside a crate in her home.

She pleaded guilty at Dundee Sheriff Court to causing unnecessary suffering to the unnamed three‑year‑old dog between December 2025 and February 2026 and was admonished, leaving her with a criminal conviction but no further penalty.

Scottish SPCA inspectors attended Henderson’s property on 16 February 2026 following a report of an underweight dog.

Inside the living room they found a grey whippet shut inside a medium‑sized crate with little to no bedding and empty food and water bowls.

The dog was visibly skeletal, with bones protruding and multiple sores across his body and legs. Vets later confirmed the whippet was at the lowest possible body‑condition score, weighing just 7.7kg instead of the healthy average of around 13kg.

The dog also had severely overgrown nails and pressure sores in various stages of healing.

A veterinary report concluded the animal had suffered unnecessarily for a prolonged period.

When cautioned by police, Henderson said: “I know myself that it’s shocking. I have just shut myself away and not told anyone. I’m not one for asking for help.”

Her solicitor told the court she struggled with significant mental health issues and had been unable to cope, describing the neglect as unintentional. He said she was remorseful and accepted that a disqualification order was appropriate.

Sheriff Nigel Cooke took into account Henderson’s supposed “mental health difficulties” and the findings of a social work report before deciding to admonish her. Henderson is now prohibited from owning or possessing animals for five years (expires July 2031).

Dundee: Kevin Shewan

CONVICTED | Kevin William Shewan, born c. 1985, of Broughty Ferry Road, Dundee DD4 – inflicted multiple injuries on a 10-month-old kitten leading to the animal’s death.

Sadistic cat killer Kevin Shewan from Dundee, Scotland

Sadistic Shewan pleaded guilty to causing his cat, Shadow, unnecessary suffering by inflicting multiple non-accidental injuries to the head and body over a four-month period, resulting in euthanasia.

The court heard that Shewan’s sister had reported him to the Scottish SPCA over concerns about the cat’s welfare.

In August 2025, the PDSA pet hospital in Dundee treated Shadow, for an eye injury. The damage to his eye was so severe that it had to be removed.

Two months later, Shadow returned to the same veterinary hospital suffering from lameness. It was discovered that he had sustained two pelvic fractures.

He was admitted for castration two months after that but was found to have a fracture to a hind leg and a broken canine tooth.

Very sadly, vets felt there was no option but to put Shadow to sleep on welfare grounds.

According to his lawyer, Shewan suffered from “learning difficulties” and physical health problems.

Dunfermline, Fife: Michelle McPhee

CONVICTED (2026) | Michelle McPhee, born c. 1975, of Beath View, Dunfermline KY11 4UE – left a miniature dachshund to starve.

Animal abuser! Michelle McPhee, a traveller from Dunfermline, Fife - starved and neglected a miniature dachshund.

McPhee, a traveller, had starved and neglected the dog over a three-month period, leaving her severely underweight and dehydrated with her coat covered in her own waste.

Police attending the address on an unrelated matter discovered the unnamed female dog confined to a tiny bathroom.

Fiscal depute Johnny Bruce told the court: “A small bathroom, 1m sq, was searched. A small miniature dachshund dog was discovered, lying on the floor.

“The dog was small in size. It was immediately clear to officers the dog was badly malnourished and underweight.

“It was evident the dog was starving and dehydrated. Ribs and bones were clearly visible. Its claws were excessively lengthy.”

Animal abuser! Michelle McPhee, a traveller from Dunfermline, Fife - starved and neglected a miniature dachshund.

The dog, whose coat was matted with urine and faeces, was taken to a vet for examination. This revealed that she weighed just 4.7kg – much less than a healthy weight for her age and breed – and was “really undernourished”..

Her body condition was categorised as 2/9 on the Purina scale – one stage up from the most extreme level of emaciation.

The dog was transferred into Scottish SPCA care the following day and two days after that McPhee was arrested.

“The dog will not be released back to the accused,” Mr Bruce added.

When police returned to her home to arrest her, McPhee told officers: “I’m going to kill my laddie.”

Ultimatly, McPhee pleaded guilty to causing the dachshund unnecessary suffering for three months, between March 1 and June 1, 2025, in that she failed to provide adequate food and water.

She also failed to seek appropriate veterinary assessment and treatment and failed to maintain the dog’s coat and nails, resulting in severe matting and significant overgrowth.

Defence solicitor David McLaughlin told the court McPhee had suffered the loss of her partner and sister.

He added that she “has a large number of children and became overwhelmed. She had difficulty keeping up with everything.”

Sentencing McPhee, Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon said her personal problems were “no excuses whatsoever”.

The sheriff said: “This is quite an appalling situation with this dog. The condition of this dog was obviously life-threatening. It was clearly well undernourished with no water either.

“You have had dogs in the past, you should know better.

“Thankfully the dog did not require to be put down. It must have been a close decision.

“I was considering lifetime disqualification.”

Sentencing | four-month curfew. Five-year-ban (expires January 2031).

Dunfermline, Fife: Jeorgio Dolan

CONVICTED (2025) | Jeorgio Dolan, born 4 March 2005, previously of Viewforth Place, Burntisland Road, Kinghorn, and now Willowbank Brae, Dunfermline KY12 0FA – left a dog in a house without food or water for weeks.

Animal abuser Fife man Jeorgio Dolan abandoned his dog without food or water for weeks.

Dolan admitted that between July 4 and September 14, 2024, he caused unnecessary suffering to a female bulldog called Lola by failing to provide her with adequate food and water, causing her to become emaciated. He also failed to seek appropriate veterinary assessment and treatment for her body condition, a heart murmur, overgrown nails and decaying teeth.

Animal abuser Fife man Jeorgio Dolan abandoned his dog without food or water for weeks.
Victim Lola

Prosecutor Annie Macdonald told the court: “The Scottish SPCA’S Inspector Ferrier was made aware of a dog found inside the locus. Every bone was visible. The condition of the property was terrible. It was gas engineers who had found the dog.

“Witnesses stated the dog had been found in the living room but they’d been unable to make contact with the tenant.”

Ms Macdonald continued: “At 9.45am, Inspector Ferrier arrived at the locus, she observed the dog to be low in energy but friendly.

“The two witnesses stated they had found her in the living room surrounded by rubbish and faeces.

“The dog had no access to other rooms. On entering the property, the living room was in a disgraceful condition. There was human food rubbish, dog food cans and at least a week’s worth of faeces on the floor. Some faeces were mouldy.

“There was no food in the living room.”

Lola was taken to a vet for examination where she was give a body score of 1/9, the most extreme category of emaciation.

Her bones were visible from a distance and she had no palpable body fat. She weighed just 17.5kg against a health weight for her breed of between 27kg and 35kg.

She had tacky gums consistent with dehydration and her mucus membranes were poor, consistent with anaemia. The vet also discovered a heart murmur and tartar on her teeth.

It was established the dog had been suffering unnecessarily for between a fortnight and two months.

Ms Macdonald explained Inspector Ferrier had attended the property in Kinghorn in April 2024 over concerns about the same dog.

Animal abuser Fife man Jeorgio Dolan abandoned his dog without food or water for weeks.

Defence solicitor Martin McGuire told the court his client “wasn’t coping well with his own affairs at that time.”

Lola was taken into the Scottish SPCA’s care and nursed back to health. By September the heart murmur had disappeared and by October, her weight was 25kg.

Sentencing | one-year supervision order with unpaid work as a direct alternative to imprisonment. Banned from keeping or caring for any dog for five years (expires December 2030).

Linlathen, Dundee: Stacey Harris

CONVICTED (2025) | backyard breeder Stacey Harris, born October 1985, most recently of Mossgiel Crescent, Linlathen, Dundee DD4 8AR – abandoned eight dogs in appalling conditions.

Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
Unremorseful: Stacey Harris, described in court as cold and callous, left adult dogs and puppies to suffer months of agony in a “house of horrors”.

Mother-of-four Harris pleaded guilty to seven animal cruelty charges in relation to eight dogs who had been left to starve over a period of two months after she abandoned them to move in with a boyfriend.

Two dogs – Vito and Cash – had already starved to death while Sharpei-cross puppies Cuba, Nola and Oakley had to be euthanised. Only one dog survived – an American bulldog called Koda who was found scared and with her ribs visibly protruding.

The Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) launched an investigation in October 2024 after receiving concerns about the welfare of Harris’s dogs.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
Inside the property where heartless single mother Stacey Harris left eight dogs to fend for themselves. Almost every room was strewn with rubbish and household items and there was an overwhelming smell of faeces and urine.

An SSPCA inspector reported: “We received a complaint that a property had been abandoned and the dogs inside had not been attended to for over a week.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
Greedy backyard breeder Harris had sold multiple litters from American bulldog Koda and male Sharpei.

“From outside the home, we could see an emaciated Sharpei-type dog with visibly infected eyes. Inside, we were met with an overwhelming smell of faeces and urine. The entire property was littered with dog faeces, rubbish, and debris.

“One of the dogs, a tan and white American Bulldog, was so malnourished it could not walk and had to be carried out.

“The remains of a deceased dog were found stuck in an upstairs bedroom doorway.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
Koda had recently given birth and was suffering from multiple untreated health conditions. Her ribs, spin and hip bones were prominent through her skin. Weak with hunger, she had collapsed and had to be carried out by the SSPCA.

“Three emaciated Sharpei-type dogs were removed from the property using specialist equipment. Sadly, due to the severity of their untreated conditions, they were later euthanised on welfare grounds.

“The second bedroom was full of dog faeces, empty dog food bags and rubbish. This was where the body of a deceased Sharpei cross type dog was found lying on the floor.

“A veterinary examination confirmed the American Bulldog was extremely underweight, with her ribs, spine, and hip bones clearly visible. She had recently given birth and was suffering from dehydration and skin and ear infections that would have developed over several weeks.

“Two dead dogs—one a Sharpei cross and the other unidentifiable—were taken for postmortem examination, which confirmed they had died from prolonged starvation.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
The remains of elderly chihuahua Dex were never found and it’s thought that he had been eaten by the other dogs in their desperation to survive.

The bodies of a 12-year-old chihuahua called Dex, and a one-year old Sharpei were never found and were presumed eaten.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.
Harris moved in with a new boyfriend, leaving her pets behind to die after “life took over”.

In court prosecutor Sam Craib elaborated on the scene of horror confronting the SSPCA, police and local authority joiner. He described how the remains of one dog was found at the top of the hallway. All that was left was the skull, the spine, the back legs and skin.

He added: “Three Shar Pei dogs were removed from upstairs. A dead Shar Pei-cross was found lying on the floor.

“The dog was clearly emaciated but described as recently fresh with little or no decomposition.”.

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.

Defence solicitor Kevin Hampton said his client, who appeared via video link from Polmont prison, became tearful in his consultation with him prior to sentencing on Tuesday 29 July 2025. He said his client had “been subject to various threats on social media. She feels she’s let her children down.”

Prosecution of Dundee dog killer Stacey Harris, who abandoned two dogs and their litter of puppies to starve to death.

Sentencing Harris, Sheriff Tim Niven-Smith told Harris: “If you left a six-month old baby in the house for two months, you could hardly say, ‘I didn’t realise he or she would die’

“I need not infer you intended to cause unnecessary suffering as at the very least you were reckless.

“Your explanation to the author of the (social work) report that you moved in with your partner and intended to go to the tenancy to feed your dogs but ‘life took over’ is not a proper explanation, especially where that partner lived in Dundee.

“You would easily have the financial means to travel to and from the property by bus.”

The sheriff added: “Your actions displayed a cold, callous contempt for those dogs.

“It’s altogether clear, absent expert testimony, just how agonising a death Cash and Vito endured.”

Harris was told her responsibility for their deaths was akin to shooting the dogs through the head.

“The only difference is the latter would be quick and potentially painless,” the sheriff continued.

“I don’t consider you are genuinely remorseful and seem to have done everything to prioritise yourself.

“You attempted to blame one of your children for failing to feed and water them despite acknowledging you had not asked your son to feed and water them.

“I consider it’s vital to send an appropriate message to all who have responsibilities for domestic animals.”

Speaking after the sentencing, the SSPCA inspector added: “This was an extremely distressing case where multiple animals suffered unnecessarily for a prolonged period which could have been easily avoided by contacting an animal welfare organisation for help if needed.

“It is hard to comprehend how any individual cannot attend to their own pets knowing they were locked up in a property. As a result, the Scottish SPCA and the Inspector involved are very pleased with Harris’s sentencing and hope it acts as a deterrent to others.”

Sentencing | eight-month custodial, reduced from one year, backdated to 26 June 2025 when she was first remanded. Lifetime ban on owning or keeping dogs but can apply to have this overturned after 10 years.

Child rapist Brandon Robb made dogs hunt and brutally kill wildlife and pet cats.

Robb, who was jailed for seven years for child rape* in June 2025, admitted a catalogue of wildlife offences.

Footage retrieved from Robb’s phones showed his two lurcher dogs being goaded into attacking deer, rabbits, hares, a fox cub, wild birds and domestic cats.

In one clip a cat is filmed desperately trying to hang on to a branch and in another Robb holds up the bloodied body of a cat that had been attacked by his dogs.

In another video a heron is shot with a catapult and a dog ordered to attack it.

Other footage showed two dogs chasing a roe deer and killing it. One dog is also seen with a hare in its mouth.

In other videos, the dogs can be seen with blood on their muzzles and Robb praising them for their actions.

The offences took place between August and November 2022 in woods and farmland in Fife and Kinross, usually at night.

He was caught after he shared the disturbing content to social media with one member of the public reporting him to police..

Items recovered from his home included torches, a pair of binoculars and a hunting knife.

Robb was also convicted of assaulting one of the officers during his arrest.

Police Scotland wildlife crime officer, Con Ben Pacholek, said the crimes were some of the worst he had ever seen.

He added: “Robb boasted about the prowess of his dogs and gloried in the suffering of the animals he ordered them to harm. His actions were despicable.”

Iain Batho, who leads on wildlife crime for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, said: “Brandon Robb’s actions had no purpose or motive other than to fulfil his own desire to inflict pain and suffering on innocent animals.”

Robb had 21 previous convictions and had served time in prison for animal crimes.

He was jailed in 2014 after admitting using his dog to hunt a rare piebald deer. This happened while he was awaiting sentencing for another animal crime where he stole 30 ducks from a farm in Fife alongside accomplice Benny Murray.

Sentencing | one-year custodial. Banned indefinitely from owning or keeping animals.

Glenrothes, Fife: Steven Wolohan

CONVICTED (2025) | Steven Wolohan, born c. 1998, of Dunbeath Drive, Glenrothes KY7 – kept a malnourished dog with multiple infections in a filthy bedroom.

Dog killer! Prosecution of Glenrothes man Steven Woolohan for the abandonment of a dog found starved and neglected while living in filth.

A police officer carrying out a welfare check on Wolohan alerted the Scottish SPCA (SSPCA) after finding the seven-year-old bulldog, Hugo, in a room strewn with faeces.

Wolohan was already known to the SSPCA who had visited him on June 17, 2022 after receiving an anonymous report about a dog in poor condition, left alone for long periods and never walked.

Wolohan with the dog he abandoned after months of starvation and neglect.

Denied access to the property by Wolohan, the inspector was shown Hugo at the door and found that, other than an ear infection, he was in good condition. Wolohan was advised to take the dog to a vet. During a follow-up visit 11 days later, Wolohan admitted that Hugo still hadn’t seen a vet because he had to buy dog food.

He was given a large bag of dog food by the inspector but subsequently stopped responding to calls and cards.

Dog killer! Prosecution of Glenrothes man Steven Woolohan for the abandonment of a dog found starved and neglected while living in filth.
Tragic dog Hugo was put to sleep.

On August 4, 2023, the SSPCA was called to Wolahan’s home by police with an officer reporting that he had found the dog in poor condition shut away in a bedroom.

The kitchen was dirty with rubbish and appliances strewn around the floor, the hallway had various items rolled up and in the living room there were multiple piles of faeces, including diarrhoea.

Hugo was found lying on a dirty bed in an upstairs bedroom with rubbish and beer cans on the floor. He was very thin with his ribs visible through his fur.

He was removed from the property and taken to a vet for assessment. Here it was found that he weighed 28kg when a dog of his breed should weigh between 35 and 40kg. He scored 2/9 on the Purina scale.

The vet estimated that he hadn’t been fed a proper diet for weeks.

He had sores on his paw pads, mild periodontal disease and dandruff.

His ears were abnormally narrowed and discharging pus making an otoscope examination impossible.

Hugo continued to receive treatment at the SSPCA clinic but a decision was taken later that month to euthanise him.

Dog killer! Prosecution of Glenrothes man Steven Woolohan for the abandonment of a dog found starved and neglected while living in filth.

In court, Wolohan, a convicted domestic abuser, admitted that between June 17 2022 and August 4 2023, he caused a dog he was responsible for to suffer unnecessarily by an act or omission.

He failed to provide the dog with appropriate care and treatment, in particular adequate nutrition whereby the dog lost body weight.

He also failed to obtain vet advice or treatment for the dog for a number of health conditions including ulcerated ear canals, body weight loss and loss of muscle mass.

Prosecutors previously accepted Wolohan’s not guilty plea to a second charge of failing to take reasonable steps in the circumstances to ensure the welfare of the dog.

Wolohan’s lawyer Martin McGuire said: “It’s fair to say during the course of 2022 and 2023, Mr Wolohan’s personal circumstances had deteriorated.

“He wasn’t taking care of himself, let alone the dog.

“Mr Wolohan found himself in a situation where he was drinking to excess and there was substance misuse.

“He wasn’t maintaining his own affairs.

“He was in a state of depression, he simply wasn’t able to progress matters.”

While acknowledging that the offence passed the custody threshold, Sheriff Mark Allan decided to impose a community order instead and banned Wolohan from keeping pets for a measly five years.

Sentencing | 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work; supervision order; six-month curfew. Five-year ban (expires May 2030).

Lochee, Dundee: Pawel Lukaszewicz

CONVICTED (2025) | Pawel Lukaszewicz, born c. 1987, with a recent address of Atholl Street, Lochee, Dundee DD2 3BQ and previously at Aberdeen addresses of Urquhart Road AB24, Muggiemoss Road AB21 and Jasmine Terrace AB24 – repeatedly kicked four French bulldogs to the face and body and left them outside for long periods of time.

Animal abuser and domestic violence perpetrator Pawel Lukaszewicz previously of Aberdeen and now living in Dundee.

Convicted sex pest Lukaszewicz, who has a history of criminal violence, subjected the defenceless dogs to repeated acts of violence during a four-year campaign of domestic abuse against his former partner.

His convictions in relation to the woman include that he was physically violent, called her a series of derogatory names and monitored her movements.

At this time the woman owned four French bulldogs, who Lukaszewicz regularly mistreated by striking them to the body and back legs.

Prosecutor Dylan Middleton told the court: “This sometimes caused them to limp or struggle to walk due to how hard the accused would strike them.

“Often when the accused walked past a dog, the dog would urinate on the floor and shake due to being scared of him.

“After this, he would strike them and put them outside for a number of hours despite them whimpering to get back inside.

“One of the dogs developed epilepsy, which a veterinarian advised could have been caused by stress.”

Animal abuser and domestic violence perpetrator Pawel Lukaszewicz previously of Aberdeen and now living in Dundee.

Mr Middleton added that Lukaszewicz “always appeared to have fun” while mistreating the dogs and would “smile and laugh” as he did it.

In the dock, Lukaszewicz pleaded guilty to one charge of carrying out a course of conduct that was abusive to his former partner and a further charge of causing animals unnecessary suffering.

Defence solicitor Mike Monro conceded that his client’s “attitude to the complainer is perhaps not a healthy attitude” and stated that Lukaszewicz did not fully accept his guilt in some respects and claimed the couple had been “play fighting”.

“I’m not in any way trying to minimise this matter,” Mr Munro said, adding: “Thankfully, the injuries are not as serious as what we sometimes see, but it must have been very frightening for the complainer.”

In relation to the woman’s dogs, Mr Munro told the court that Lukaszewicz claimed that the dogs were “not appropriately house trained” but “knows how serious this matter is”.

Sheriff Lesley Johnston told Lukaszewicz that he inflicted abuse upon his partner which had a “profound impact” on her and who “continues to suffer mental and physical” to this day.

“It’s clear to me that you continue to show very limited remorse and in my view, you sought to blame the complainer for your actions,” she said.

The sheriff described Lukaszewicz’s treatment towards the four dogs as “cruel” and said he “again showed almost no remorse”.

She added that Lukaszewicz even told a social worker that he would “behave that way again and that he believes that was a good way of training dogs”.

“I consider that there is no alternative to a custodial sentence in this case,” Sheriff Johnston concluded.

Sentencing | jailed for 13 months; 10-year non-harassment order. Banned from keeping animals for five years (expires March 2030).

Crieff, Perth and Kinross: Liam Fair

CONVICTED (2025) | wildlife persecutor and prolific ‘working’ dog greeder Liam Fair aka Liam Thomson, born 16 May 2003, of Corlundy Crescent, Crieff PH7 3BH* – goaded a lurcher into attacking and killing a domestic rat and kept poorly puppies in squalor.

Animal abuser! Serial and persistent pet abuser and wildlife persecutor Liam Fair from Crieff, Perth and Kinross, Scotland.
Liam Fair was investigated by police and the Scottish SPCA after sharing a vile ‘dog -v- rat’ fight video on social media.

Fair videoed himself terrorising the pet rat by suspending her from her tail, swinging her round and striking her off the lurcher’s face. He then shared the horrifying 35-second clip to Snapchat. During police interview, Fair told officers he was training the dog, Jax, for a fledgling pest control business.

Footage of sickening cruelty to a pet rat by serial and persistent pet abuser and wildlife persecutor Liam Fair from Crieff, Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

When officers raided Fair’s “slum”-like home they found a menagerie of neglected animals, including five starving and worm-ridden puppies.

Prosecutors said Fair’s ground-floor, one-bedroom council home was in a “properly poor state of repair” with almost all windows broken and boarded up.

Animal abuser! Serial and persistent pet abuser and wildlife persecutor Liam Fair from Crieff, Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

The Scottish SPCA had been in contact with him about his animals for several years before the rat video came to light on October 22 2022.

Fair is heard in the clip trying to get Jax to attack the brown rat, although the dog initially seems uninterested.

Fair then drops the rat on the floor and Jax starts to chase her. He then picks up the rodent by the tail and whacks her against the dog’s face, causing the lurcher to snap back.

The video ends with the terrified rat scurrying under a hutch after being dropped on the ground by Fair a second time.

In the background, a dead white rat can be seen.

Animal welfare inspectors discovered a Facebook page used by Fair, in which he claims to be “owner and CEO” of a pest control company.

Fair posted that he been feeding his dog live rats in order to train them for his business.

Describing their investigation, a Scottish SPCA Inspector reported, “We received footage from a complainer showing a male, identified as Liam Fair, goading his lurcher type dog Jax to attack a domesticated brown rat.

“Fair can be seen holding the rat by the tail while hitting it off the dog’s face.

“Veterinary opinion was that severe psychological and physical suffering was caused to the rat during the incident.

“We also received screen shots taken from social media page Facebook, where on a public page, Fair admitted feeding his dog live rats as a method of training his dog for pest control purposes.

“Pictures showed a black brindle lurcher type dog named ‘Jax’ attacking the rat in the video.

“We attended the property which had wooden boards covering two windows at the front of the house. The garden immediately outside the premises was in a poor state, with mud and debris through-out. There was an old hutch, a dilapidated garden shed and what appears to be a wet wooden dog kennel with a chain attached and saturated bedding inside. No animals were seen here at the time.

“When walking into the flat there was a strong smell of urine. The flat can only be described as a slum with minimal personal possessions. Jax, a black lurcher type was loose within the premises along with Jock, a white lurcher type and a tan coloured Staffy-type dog.

“Within the sitting room there was a large puppy pen set up holding five young puppies. The puppies were walking around in their own diarrhoea with no clean or dry resting areas visible. We noted the puppies appeared to be walking lethargically, it was evident immediately that they were exceptionally underweight with pot bellies indicative of a large worm burden.

“Veterinary reports showed the five puppies were very small and significantly underweight for their age. The puppies were all weak and wobbly on their legs due to being severely under nourished.
“They were also suffering from severe diarrhoea which can result in tiny puppies losing body condition very quickly. If this had continued much longer it would have resulted in dehydration and collapse, possibly death.”

Animal abuser! Serial and persistent pet abuser and wildlife persecutor Liam Fair from Crieff, Perth and Kinross, Scotland.

In court, Fair admitted encouraging Jax to attack, bite and kill the rat at his home in Corlundy Crescent, Crieff.

He also pleaded guilty to neglecting the five puppies, three dogs and a kitten and failing to protect them from disease and suffering.

Despite clear evidence of Fair being a persistent animal abuser with a sadistic streak, he walked free from court with a tagging order and one-year ban. Sheriff Alison Mackay has also allowed him to keep eight so-called pets, believed to be dogs and ferrets.

The SSPCA spokesperson said investigators were “devastated” by the sentence Fair received since this allowed him to keep the eight animals currently in his care.

Speaking to local newspaper the Courier after the sentence hearing, Fair’s own sister, Gail Thomson, slammed Sheriff Mackay for allowing him to keep his current dogs and ferrets. She was appalled by the “no-ban ban” and said Mackay was “as sick in the head as Liam is”.

Gail added: “To Liam, his dogs are a breeding machine that he can’t and won’t take proper care of.

“He beats his animals and they know this – yet he only got a ban for a year.”

“Liam’s a horrible person who abuses animals and should have them all taken away and banned permanently.”

Gail confirmed that Fair kept his dogs in unsanitary filthy conditions and that she became so concerned she was forced to intervene to save puppies.

She added: “The pups I rescued were in a house with no flooring, the toilet was overflowing and was filthy.

“The pups were covered in their own poo and it was all dried into them.

“It was disgusting. Liam is a vile human being.”

Sentencing | Tagging order. Disqualified from owning or keeping any domesticated, farm or wild animals of any kind, other than four dogs and four ferrets, for ONE YEAR. Deprivation order for an adult dog called Honey, five puppies and one kitten.
