Eccleshill, Bradford: Sara Turner

CONVICTED (2020) | Sara Leanne Turner (aka Sara Garth), born c. 1984, of Silwood Drive, Bradford BD2 3ER – neglected two piebald cobs and left them in a “tragic” condition

Turner was banned from keeping equines for 10 years after RSPCA inspectors found a pregnant pony with all of her spine, pelvis and ribs visible.

Inspectors were called to a stable yard in Fagley Road, Bradford, in April 2020 following a call for concern for the welfare of horses.

On arrival Inspector David Holgate and Inspector Kris Walker found two ponies who were left to starve to death in a “distressing” scene.

Inspector Walker said a piebald cob-type mare, called Blue, was starving with her spine, pelvis and ribs visible.

He said: “Blue had collapsed on arrival and had given birth to a premature foal but had now managed to get to her feet with assistance from the vet and members of the public.

“The stables were dirty and there was rubbish and hazards covering most of the area.”

Mr Walker said another piebald cob type mare, called Willow, was found collapsed in a stable near the yard and was also in poor condition.

He said: “It was distressing to see these two horses in such a poor state.

“They were taken to a boarding yard but sadly their condition worsened and it was decided that the kindest thing to do was to put them to sleep to end their suffering.

“This was a sad case with a tragic outcome resulting in the death of two ponies.

Turner, who runs a mobile microchipping business called MissK9, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to two ponies.

Sentencing: 12-month community order for 250 hours of unpaid work, costs of £300 and a victim surcharge of £85. Banned from owning equines for 10 years but can appeal after three years.

    1. Before you pass judgement you try getting all the facts, this has all been out of proportion and the RSPCA told many untruths about the case you only hearing one side of the case and people who are suggesting what they would do to her is unrepeatable and those comments should be removed.

      1. I mean it wasn’t though was it, she is an unlicensed dog breeder selling puppies illegally. Her husband is a convicted paedophile on the sex offenders list, but im sure the RSPCA told so many lies about this family

        1. This family is taking me to court for stealing one of their cats that they couldn’t be bothered to look after. Any info would be appreciated to fight my case

    2. she’s also started breeding dogs and cats again, on facebook search Jason cars, and they are currently selling daschunds and british short hairs

  1. We kindly ask the Public, Not to employ this person to Microchip or Scan your Animals, for the Above Reason.
    As It Speaks For Itself.

  2. Do you not know that everybody is allowed a second chance and it is people like you who make my blood boil, suppose you have never done anything wrong and you only know half the facts, leave the poor woman alone to put this behind her and let her get on with her life.

    1. why would she need a second chance if she did nothing wrong??? you litro just went back on yourself. she let a horse die you freak, she should be in prison

  3. To those saying leave her alone and second chances yes they are when people rehabilitate of which shes not had time now shes had such a light sentence given for the manslaughter of 2 beautiful animals that didnt ask to be starved

  4. Wendy Rowell, it’s cos people like you with stupid attitudes like yours these evil cruel animal abusers get away with cruelty, you should be a judge if your not one already, cos they are all pathetic not punishing these evil bastards they need to be treated the same way they treated the poor animals teach them a lesson STOP BEING CRUEL TO ANIMALS

    1. Whilst I am not a Magistrate and have no desire to be one. But you should all ask to see her side even ask the RSPCA for her statement, blood samples were sent off and came back with traces of Sycamore poisoning, but then if this was reported there would be no story and nothing for the keyboard warriors to do.

  5. Wow, disgraceful. If this had been 2 human adults and a child shut away and left to starve she would be in prison.
Wendy, you claim the animals were poisoned, why were they not receiving emergency treatment. Surely someone needs to check on horses on a daily basis, the owner must of known one horse was with foal. You don’t just suddenly look/become emaciated the day after being poisoned. Stricter punishment should be brought in for people who neglect/abuse animals.

    1. Thanks for the tip-off. Turner and her hapless husband will be receiving some unwanted publicity imminently. Let’s see if their friend Wendy is still shrugging her shoulders when that post goes live. Maximum exposure as usual.
